GM-Specific Maintenance Menus
The difference between a good car and bad car often isn’t which company manufactured it, it’s how well it was maintained. DePaula Chevrolet’s Auto Repair and Service Department prides itself on making sure your vehicle is performing its best so you don’t have to spend your time and energy worrying.
Our trained technicians not only perform the most basic of maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks, they also thoroughly inspect vehicles to ensure there are no surprises waiting for customers!
The multi-point inspection we perform is geared toward keeping you as up-to-date as possible with the condition of your vehicle. Our process includes checking tire tread condition, wiper blades and glass health, a complete brake system check, battery health, fluid levels, and more.
Without this crucial service, it’s very easy to run into unwanted problems in between routine maintenance appointments. So make sure you request that we perform a multi-point inspection during each service visit at our Albany, NY dealership, as we’ll always be upfront regarding issues with your vehicle.
The Importance of Regular Maintenance
You’ve probably wondered, at one point or another, why regular car maintenance is so important. After all, the longer you go without it, the more money you save. That might be true in the short term, but here are a few reasons you’ll want to follow your car’s scheduled maintenance plan, which can be found in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Procrastinating on Maintenance Can Lead to Big Problems
High Repair Bills — By trying to squeeze extra time in between maintenance visits, you could be doing serious damage to your vehicle. When left untreated, problems can escalate and spread, which is something you don’t want because it leads to high repair bills.
Damage from Accidents — If you procrastinate on important tasks, such as getting your tires or brakes checked, you could end up in an unwanted accident. Tires with worn-out tread can easily lose traction, especially in conditions like rain and snow. Worn-out brakes can also fail at any time, leaving you in a situation that makes it very difficult to avoid an accident.
Staying on Schedule Keeps Your Vehicle in Top Condition
To be clear, we’re not trying to scare you, as there are plenty of other great reasons to stay true to your vehicle’s regular maintenance schedule:
Your Vehicle Will Go Farther and Last Longer
Performing regular maintenance means there’s less stress on your vehicle than there would be if you skipped visits or drove more in between service appointments. With your vehicle running at it’s best, you’ll easily be able to drive it for a longer period of time or get more overall miles out of it. This will save you the money of having to buy a newer car sooner!
Improves Value Over Time
Everyone nowadays looks at vehicle history reports, such as those provided by CarFax and AutoCheck. If you can show a dealership, like DePaula Chevrolet, or a private buyer proof that you’ve had your vehicle serviced regularly and followed other manufacturer maintenance requests, your vehicle will be worth more when you’re ready to buy a new car. Used car buyers want to know that they’re getting a car that was cared for, so taking regular maintenance for granted could hurt its value years down the road.
Recognizing Warning Lights and Diagnosing Issues
Beyond regular maintenance, the most basic way you can protect your car is to watch for warning lights on your dashboard.
You’ve probably noticed that when you turn your key (or press a button) to start the ignition that these lights all come on at once, then quickly go off. This is known as a “bulb check”. As long as all lights come on, you know you’re good to go.
This is important because dashboard warning lights, especially the dreaded check engine light (CEL), will often light up while you’re driving if there’s an issue with your vehicle.
If one happens to light up, or starts flashing, be sure to consult your owner’s manual as soon as possible to see what the manufacturer’s suggestions are for each individual warning light. It’s always advised that you come in to our auto service center and have your vehicle inspected, however, as small issues can be fixed quickly and big issues can be caught early on.
Auto Services Offered by DePaula Chevrolet
Oil Change
The best, and most simple, thing you can for your car is to change the oil. It helps keep the engine cool, reduces friction, works to cleanse the engine, and much more! Ignoring regular oil changes could cause your engine to overheat, cause rust inside the engine, and severely hurt fuel economy.
Tires and Tire Service
Having good tires is one of the most important, yet one of the most overlooked aspects of auto maintenance. Without good tires connecting your vehicle to the road, you could suffer traction issues, have fuel economy issues, and can affect your ability to steer and brake properly.
Certified Chevrolet Service
Whether you’re looking for a simple oil change or a complicated repair, DePaula’s Certified Chevrolet Service can put your mind at ease. Our technicians know Chevy vehicles inside and out, and have the expert training needed to perform even the most complicated of service jobs.
Misc. Regular Maintenance
Oil change, tire rotation, and fluid checks are all apart of regular maintenance, but what about the things you don’t think about until it’s too late? Be sure to have your DePaula technician check on your spark plugs, timing/engine belts, and coolant the next time you’re in for an oil change!
Auto Repair
DePaula’s auto repair services help Capital District-area drivers diagnose and fix issues that are outside of the scope of regular maintenance. This can include issues with your vehicle’s heating and cooling system, steering problems, suspension issues, and much more! It also includes auto body repair, such as dents, scratches, or more serious repair needs handled by our in-house collision center.
Battery Services
Keeping your battery in great condition will ensure you’re never surprised when your car doesn’t start up, whether it be on a cold winter morning or a hot summer afternoon. Our experienced technicians will assess the health of your battery, service it, or suggest and install a new one for you.
Brakes Service
Brakes are one of the most crucial components on your vehicle, and letting them wear out or procrastinating on service is a risky move. Next time you’re in for quick maintenance, ask for a multi-point inspection and we’ll make sure your brakes and other vital components are in top condition.
Filter Replacement
When you come to DePaula Chevrolet for an oil change, we’ll always change your oil filter as part of that service. But what about other filters? Do you remember the last time those were replaced? Let us take a look at your air filter, cabin air filer, and fuel filter to ensure you don’t run into any unwanted problems.
Parts
Whether you’re a hardcore do-it-yourselfer, an independent mechanic, or just want to replace an old part quickly, our parts department is the perfect place to come to for genuine GM parts.
Engine Service and Repair
Mechanics will tell you that a happy engine leads to a happy car. Our incredible team of technicians can either inspect your engine for issues, or dive right in to fix a known problem.
Transmission Service
As with many of the other services listed on this page, your vehicle’s transmission is probably not something you think about on a daily basis. It just works, right? While that may be the case now, be sure to consult your owner’s manual for information on servicing your transmission, or ask us to check it out for you during your next service visit.
