When Chevy first unveiled the mid-engine Corvette several years ago, we were blown away by its bold design and incredible performance. Since its reveal, we heard rumblings about a version of this eighth-generation Corvette that would include a hybrid powertrain designed for even greater power. After several years of rumors and teasing, this incredible piece of machinery arrived last year and continues to impress with the 2025 Chevy Corvette E-Ray, a remarkable vehicle designed for those of us who love a car that gets our hearts beating. Beautifully designed, perfectly balanced, and outfitted with incredible features inside and out, this car leaves just about everything in its dust.
At the heart of the Corvette E-Ray is its mid-body engine located just behind the cockpit, balancing the weight of this remarkable powertrain above its rear wheels rather than the front ones. This is a 6.2L V8 hybrid engine that delivers a combined 655 hp and 595 lb-ft of torque; the electric drive unit that goes with this engine provides an incredible level of performance when you are on the road. What’s more, this unit is located on the front wheels, while the engine sends power to the rear wheels, creating electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) functionality that boosts traction and control, particularly in poor weather. This results in a sports car that leaps off the line while keeping you in control, whether you are at the track, enjoying your day off, or letting loose on a longer road trip.
Inside and out, the 2025 Corvette E-Ray is an absolute marvel with a gorgeous design that immediately speaks to the power it is ready to unleash. Massive 20-inch wheels wrapped in performance all-season tires are perfect for all kinds of conditions and beautifully match the precise control provided by eAWD. Inside, you find a cockpit inspired by fighter jets, with leather details and a design that cants controls and screens toward you as the driver. Available options include a Bose Performance Series sound system, Napa leather seats with carbon-fiber trim, and a Performance Data Recorder that lets you keep track of video and real-time performance data to improve quarter-mile runs, track laps, and much more.

Everything about the 2025 Chevy Corvette E-Ray is built around delivering unbelievable power and performance whenever you get behind the wheel. The modern, mid-engine Corvette is already a masterpiece of automotive design, yet the E-Ray takes things further with even greater power than the standard Corvette model. If your first response to the word “hybrid” is thoughts of fuel efficiency, then worry not: the hybrid powertrain in the E-Ray is all about performance and speed, not gas mileage. And yet, its design still makes it a surprisingly rewarding daily driver that can put just about any other car out there to shame.
Power in the Corvette E-Ray starts with its 6.2L V8 engine that delivers 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque on its own, which is paired with an insanely responsive eight-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. What takes things further, of course, is the electric drive unit that adds 160 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque for a combined 655 hp and 595 lb-ft of torque, which feels incredible when you are on the road. All of this power lets the E-Ray go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and run the quarter-mile in only 10.5 seconds. It is an incredible feat of engineering that you honestly have to feel for yourself to fully appreciate.
What we find particularly remarkable, however, is how Chevy has configured this hybrid system: the mid-position engine sends power to the rear wheels while the electric drive unit delivers power to the front wheels. This creates eAWD performance that provides you with even greater traction and control than you might expect; it is also perfect for dealing with wet roads and conditions when you are driving. One of our favorite details is the Stealth Mode that offers electric-only performance for three to four miles at up to 45 mph; this is perfect for a quick trip to the store or a silent drive around the block to make your neighbors jealous (we don’t judge).
One look at the modern Corvette is all it takes to see that this is something special; the Corvette E-Ray is no exception to this. First, you have its short nose allowed by the mid-body engine placement, which not only looks fantastic but provides you with an incredible view of the road ahead of you while driving. Side vents at the rear of the doors help cool the powerful engine and create a striking, captivating flow to the body of this car that sets it apart from everything else out there, including previous Corvette models. You can choose from a coupe or a convertible configuration, letting you get the kind of body you want for your car. The power of this vehicle is instantly recognizable thanks to its large, 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin performance all-season tires—this reinforces how well it functions in all kinds of conditions.
A body-color roof panel and rear spoiler are both standard, along with body-color accents and side mirrors that are heated and feature integrated turn signals to let others on the road know what you are doing. One of our favorite options for the Corvette E-Ray is an Engine Appearance Package that adds a carbon fiber closeout panel to each side of the engine along with LED lighting to showcase the gorgeous details and engineering of this car’s powertrain. You can also get Carbon Flash exterior details or Dark Stealth options to create the overall look you prefer, while a ZER Performance Package gives you Michelin Pilot high performance summer-only tires rather than the standard all-season ones. Finally, numerous exterior colors are available, including Arctic White, Black, and Torch Red; new for 2025, you can choose Hysteria Purple Metallic or Competition Yellow Tintcoat Metallic for a truly distinct look.
Everyone knows that the exterior of the Corvette E-Ray will turn heads; fortunately, the interior leaves nothing to be desired. This is important since most of your time with your car will be spent with you driving it, so you want a cabin that rewards you every time you get behind the wheel. Standard features inside the 2025 Corvette E-Ray include an eight-inch infotainment display with Google built-in, a 12-inch Driver Information Center screen, and a 10-speaker Bose Premium sound system. Standard GT1 bucket seats are designed for comfort and support while driving, with eight-way power adjustments, Mulan leather seating surfaces with perforated inserts, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A head-up display that projects information onto the windshield, keyless open and start with remote start functionality, and dual-zone automatic climate control are also all standard.
If you move up to the 2LZ trim level, then you get a number of interior upgrades, including a Bose Performance Series 14-speaker sound system. You get a wireless charging pad in this model and, perhaps most notably, a Performance Data and Video Recorder that records video and real-time performance data for playback, sharing, and analysis. This includes a windshield-mounted 1080p HD camera with a Track Mode setting that records video and audio, along with synchronized performance data including your speed, rpm, g-force, and even lap times. Moving up to the 3LZ trim gets you GT2 bucket seats with carbon fiber trim and added support, featuring Napa leather surfaces and perforated inserts. This pinnacle trim level features sueded microfiber-wrapped interior trim on the headliner, visors, A-pillar, and elsewhere, plus carbon fiber details on the steering wheel and elsewhere to create an incredible cockpit that is ready for every trip.
