One of the more talked about new features for the 2025 Silverado 2500 HD is the new Trail Boss package, which is now available for the LT and LTZ trims. The package comes equipped with the Z71 suspension upgrade, red recovery hooks on the front, Trail Boss bed decals, along with blacked out badging, blacked out trim, and blacked out front and rear bumpers. The Trail Boss package also features unique 20-inch high-gloss black painted wheels. Engine Options

The Silverado 2500 HD is available in three different cab configurations and two different bed sizes. You can get it in a Regular, Double, or Crew Cab, with seating for up to six people, and in a standard 6.9-ft bed or a long 8.2-ft bed. Two distinct powertrains are available for the 2025 Silverado 2500 HD, both of which can be used for the truck in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The 6.6-liter V8 gas-powered engine manages up to 401 hp at 464 lb-ft of torque, whereas the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel outputs 470 hp at 975 lb-ft of torque. Both the engines are also paired up with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

    Performance and Trailering Features

Every trim comes standard with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and all of the trucks paired with the Duramax are available with a diesel exhaust brake. If you opt for the trailering packages, you have access to trailering wiring provisions for a camper, as well as a fifth-wheel or a gooseneck trailer, which you can use with the camper package that features heavy-duty springs. The off-road models also come with skid plates to help keep your Silverado 2500 HD safe while venturing on or off the road.

To help manage the speed and braking of the truck while trailering, there is also an integrated trailer brake controller, which is essential for those who plan on towing or hauling heavy loads. The availability of Power Take-Off, Hill Descent Control, and the transfer case all add to the utility of the Silverado 2500 HD's capabilities. There is also the added standard inclusion of an automatic electronically locking rear differential, which is key for maintaining traction control for the Silverado 2500 HD's traversal regardless of road or weather conditions, so you can brave harsh weather or difficult terrain while still maintaining control over the vehicle thanks to the handling and stability management.
