2025 Chevy Silverado EV

If you’ve been a long-time fan of the Chevy Silverado, then you know what a versatile and powerful truck it is. The Silverado has been a staple of the Chevy family since the late 1990s, and it’s usually a staple of any environment where work needs to get done, like farms and construction sites. Maybe you haven’t previously driven a Silverado because you’ve been prioritizing more fuel-efficient options and shopping in the hybrid and electric space. Fortunately, a couple of years ago, Chevy introduced the first Silverado EV, an electrified version of this beloved full-size pickup. So contractors, farmers, and industrious folks everywhere no longer have to choose between preserving their fuel budget or having a capable pickup. In fact, you don’t need a fuel budget at all for the electrified 2025 Chevy Silverado EV. Let’s get to know this modern pickup and what it has to offer.

Impressive Ranges

We’ll start with the question on everyone’s mind: how far can the Silverado EV drive on a full charge? The EPA reports that this electric pickup can drive 460 miles with the max range battery pack. That should be more than enough to tackle a full week’s worth of in-town commutes, or a round-trip weekend road trip. The mid-level batteries get a great range, too, exceeding 400 miles.

Charging

So what about charging your Silverado EV? That’s a breeze. The Silverado EV is available with Level 2 charging (professional installation required). Level 2 can get you a full charge in approximately 8 to 10 hours. So plug in at the end of the day, and your Silverado EV will fully recharge while you’re sleeping. In a hurry? The Silverado EV has DC fast charging capability. So pull up to a public charger, and you can get up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. That should come in handy when your battery power is low and you’re rushing between job sites.

Wide Open Watts and Sidewinder Features

The Silverado EV can move in some unexpected ways, too. For starters, it can go from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds in Wide Open Watts, aka Max Power mode, which unlocks additional horsepower and torque for impressive acceleration. So you won’t feel sluggish merging onto the highway. And here’s a feature that will have you do a double take: the Sidewinder. This available feature allows all four wheels to turn in the same direction, enabling diagonal movement at slow speeds. That should help you navigate tricky environments with ease.

Other Notable Features

Then there’s the available Four-Wheel Steer. This feature gets all four wheels collaborating to create a smaller turning radius (a pretty great feat for a truck), making getting in and out of tight spots easier. When you find yourself in a low-traction situation, the dual motor 4WD system will send instantaneous torque to all wheels at the same time so you can get a (literal) grip on things. The adaptable nature of the Silverado EV continues with the available Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system. With the ability to raise or lower your vehicle height, this system can increase efficiency, make getting in and out of the cab easier, and make hitching to a trailer easier. From charging up for a big day of driving to dominating every domain, the Silverado EV is ready for it all.

Technology

Screens

Technology lovers will be thrilled with what the Silverado EV has to offer. It makes a powerful first impression the second you get in the cab with its available 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen. That’s larger than most laptops, and should give you a more than adequate display to view your navigation, live camera feed, incoming caller info, and more. Next to the infotainment screen, you’ll find the available 11-inch diagonal Driver Information Center. That’s where you’re going to see important vehicle and journey stats, including battery charge info, engaged driver assist systems, and speed.

The Standard Chevy Safety Assist Suite

Don’t want to take your eyes off the road to check your next turn or see who’s calling? You don’t have to, thanks to the available 14-inch diagonal head-up display. It will project important information onto the windshield so that you can keep your eyes on the road. That transitions seamlessly into discussing the other safety features, like the Chevy Safety Assist suite, which comes standard. That’s going to get you Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking, which can bring you to a hard stop to avoid collisions. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning is also included to help you remain centered through alerts and gentle steering guidance. A Following Distance Indicator and Forward Collision Alert will help you keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, while the IntelliBeam high beams will turn on and off as needed in low-light settings.

Super Cruise

Then there’s the real superstar, the available Super Cruise. This hands-free driving technology uses real-time cameras, sensors, GPS, and LiDAR mapping to read the road and understand your location. It can accelerate, brake, and steer for you. It can even make automatic lane changes if a vehicle is moving too slowly ahead of you, as well as on-demand lane changes. Plus, it works when you’re trailering, adjusting its measurements to accommodate your vessel when making moves. Driving is simply less strenuous when you have Super Cruise.

Utility/Capability

By now, you know that the Silverado EV is a finely-tuned electric vehicle with impressive range and technology to keep up with your busy days. At its core, though, it’s still a tough truck ready for hard work. So let’s talk about all that the Silverado EV can do for you when it comes to tackling the job site.

The Multi-Flex Midgate and Tailgate

The Silverado EV can tow up to 12,500 lbs. So whether you need to pull a snow plow through the roads or take a trailer across the farm, the Silverado EV has you covered. Storing all sorts of materials, tools, and gear in the bed is easy, too, thanks to a couple of configurable and convenient gates. First, there’s the available Multi-Flex Midgate with a pass-through feature. With that mid-gate down, the rear glass removed, the tailgate down, and the primary load stop engaged, your Silverado EV bed can accommodate items up to 10 feet, 10 inches in length.

Then there’s the popular available Multi-Flex Tailgate. It can be set to six positions, each making long days on a job site much easier. There’s the primary gate, which is great for loading up long items like wood planks or kayaks. An inner gate folds down for easy access to your bed. The inner gate can also fold down into a full-width step capable of supporting 375 lbs. The inner gate load stop can keep longer second-tier items in place. The inner gate can also serve as a work surface where you can fill out documents or go over blueprints.

Other Features

If you arrive at a job site and find that there aren’t any power outlets, your Silverado EV has you covered. It has the available PowerBase offboard power, offering up to 10.2 kW of juice to power your devices. Pair the GM Energy PowerShift Charger with the GM Energy Vehicle-to-Home Enablement Kit, and you can even convert your truck into a generator for your home during a blackout. In fact, when properly equipped, it can keep your home’s appliances going for 21 days. When life throws you challenges—expected and unexpected—the Silverado EV can be a lifesaver.
