The 2023 Chevy Tahoe is a full-size SUV that offers you and your passengers three rows of incredible automotive enjoyment. While most folks think of the Tahoe as one of two super-sized SUVs offered by Chevy, this vehicle is more than just a big truck. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe is one of the most refined vehicles in its class, with so many technological innovations and performance features that make it a great value full-size SUV.

Chevrolet first introduced the Tahoe to drivers across America back in 1995, joining Chevy's other large SUV, the Suburban. However, the goal for the Tahoe was to make a full-size SUV that was more about sport than utility. Since those first-generation Tahoe models, Chevy has gone on to produce five great generations of this SUV, with the latest arriving for the 2021 model year. The fact that Chevy has been producing this model for almost 30 years shows that Chevy got it right when it introduced the Tahoe. The 2021 Tahoe increased its size and gave this SUV a standard V8 engine, so you have the power you need for the utility end of things and the acceleration you desire for the sport part of the equation.

The 2023 Tahoe will be the first to offer Super Cruise, Chevy's hands-free driving technology. This shows the commitment that Chevy has made to stay on the cutting edge of safety technology features while continuing to provide drivers like you great value at an affordable price.

  • Performance

    Engine Options

Chevy offers you three exceptional engine choices on the 2023 Tahoe, each of which delivers powerful and efficient performance. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V8 gas engine with dynamic fuel management and automatic start/stop technology to improve fuel economy. This engine has variable valve timing and direct high-pressure fuel injection to provide 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

The first of the two optional engines on the 2023 Chevy Tahoe is a 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 gas engine that also has dynamic fuel management and automatic stop/start technology, as well as variable valve timing and direct high-pressure fuel injection. However, this is a larger engine that can deliver up to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This gives you greater acceleration than the standard 5.3-liter V8.

The second available engine on the Tahoe is a 3.0-liter Duramax I-6. This turbo-diesel utilizes high-pressure common-rail fuel injection to deliver 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque at just 1500 RPM. Like most diesel engines, this 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel gives you exceptional fuel economy, as well as a great amount of torque at low gears. It will also run extremely well over long periods of driving.

    Towing and Payload Ratings

One of the great things about the 2023 Chevy Tahoe is the ability to tow heavy trailers and carry large loads. This utility sets the Tahoe apart from many other full-size SUVs, giving you the ability to use your Tahoe for more than just ferrying your family around town.

Interestingly enough, the Tahoe with the standard 5.3-liter V8 provides the highest towing and payload rating, able to tow up to 8,400 lbs and carry 1,834 lbs. Nevertheless, if you choose to equip your Tahoe with either of the other two engines, you are going to get solid capabilities. The 2023 Tahoe with a 6.2-liter V8 gas engine can tow up to 8,300 lbs and carry 1,671 lbs, while choosing the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel will allow you to tow 8,200 lbs and haul 1,717 lbs.

    Off-Road Handling

The 2023 Chevy Tahoe handles fairly well for an SUV of its size. While you aren't going to corner like you would in a crossover or sedan, you still have solid command of the road in your Tahoe. Chevy gives you a choice of rear-wheel drive, which provides improved acceleration and fuel economy, or four-wheel drive for exceptional traction on and off the road. Most models of the Tahoe have an acceptable 8-inches of ground clearance, but the Z71 and High Country provide an amazing 10-inches of ground clearance as a result of the Four Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. The Z71 is an off-roading trim of the Tahoe with standard four-wheel drive, the only model that doesn't offer rear-wheel drive.

  • Interior Space

    A Roomy Cabin

One of the biggest reasons why folks buy a full-size SUV like the 2023 Chevy Tahoe is the abundance of space. There is space for passengers, and there is also space for your stuff. In all, the Tahoe offers one of the most spacious interiors of any SUV in its class. What's more, unlike most SUVs, you don't have to choose between passengers and cargo when you are trying to load both into your Tahoe. If you plan to take a road trip with up to nine passengers, there will still be enough room in the trunk to fit everyone's luggage, even if all the seats are taken and cannot be folded down.

    Passenger Space

While many three-row SUVs provide a promise of room for up to nine passengers, the 2023 Tahoe is one of the few that can actually fulfill this obligation to its drivers. This is because the Tahoe LS trim comes with a bench seat that can fit nine passengers, while most other trims on the Tahoe seat either seven or eight passengers depending on the configuration of the second row of seats.

The designers at Chevy have done an exceptional job dividing the passenger space between all three rows on the Tahoe so that nobody feels cramped or short-changed. For example, the front-row passengers get 44.5 inches of legroom, while the second-row passengers enjoy 42 inches of legroom, and the third-row passengers get 34.9 inches. Similarly, the front row gets 66 inches of shoulder room, which carries throughout the interior compartment to 64.7 inches in the second row and 62.7 inches in the third row. This is plenty of room for everyone to stretch out, especially on long drivers where this is especially vital.

    Cargo Space

Having your room is very important, especially if you find yourself traveling with your kids. This is where the Tahoe truly excels. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe has 25.5 cu.ft. of cargo space in its trunk, which means that you can use all three rows of seats while carrying plenty of things in your Tahoe. If you need more space, you can easily fold down the third row of seats to free up a total of 72.6 cu.ft., which is more space than most two-row SUVs offer across the entire vehicle. However, the 2023 Tahoe goes one better, providing an impressive 122.9 cu.ft. of space for your things with the two rear rows of seats folded down. This allows you to use the Tahoe for moving things when you aren't busy moving people.

  • Technology

    Standard Safety Technology

The 2023 Chevy Tahoe comes equipped with a set of six standard active driver assistance features, all part of the Chevy Safety Assist platform. Each of these will improve your safe driving of your Tahoe.

Forward Collision Alert will determine if there is a stopped vehicle in front of your Tahoe and send you a warning so that you can take evasive action. It will also alert the Automatic Emergency Braking, which will engage the brakes in addition to providing extra braking power to your own efforts. Together, these two features will reduce the chances of a frontal collision or mitigate the damages if a crash is unavoidable.

The Following Distance Indicator will alert you if the system thinks you are following the vehicle in front of your Tahoe too closely. This will also reduce the chances of a collision. The Front Pedestrian Braking system works in a similar fashion, but the system has been specially set up to detect pedestrians in your path. So, if a pedestrian steps off the curb in front of your Tahoe, this feature will engage the brakes to help bring your Tahoe to a stop, avoiding striking the pedestrian in the process.

    Adding Convenience

One of the biggest causes of accidents on the highway is when drivers lose focus and drift out of their lanes. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning will send a warning if your Tahoe drifts out of lane, and then use steering adjustments to get you safely back in the lane.

The final standard safety feature is IntelliBeam auto high beams. One of the most annoying things about driving late at night is constantly turning your high beams on and off as you enter areas of poor lighting or encounter other drivers. IntelliBeam takes care of this, automatically turning the high beams on your Tahoe as you enter an area of low light and then automatically turning them off when you enter an area with better lighting or when the system detects another vehicle.

    Drive Hands-Free

The 2023 Tahoe is also the first model to feature Chevy's Super Cruise system. This is found on the Premier and High Country trims and is the first true hands-free driving system. If you take your 2023 Tahoe Premier or High Country on a compatible highway, you can engage Super Cruise to take over steering for your Tahoe, relaxing your hands from fatigue on the road. This is just another way that Chevy works to keep you safe inside your Tahoe.

    Infotainment Technology

The 2023 Chevy Tahoe comes with the Chevrolet Infotainment System. This combines key driver information systems with a stereo system for entertainment and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to keep you connected. All models have an enormous 10.2-inch diagonal color touchscreen, except the base Tahoe LS, which comes with an 8-inch touchscreen.

The Chevy Infotainment System also features a Wi-Fi Hotspot. This will allow you and your passengers to connect your devices to the Internet while you are driving your Tahoe. Finally, most of the models have Google built-in, allowing you to access all the features and apps on Google.
