For 2023, Chevy offers the Trailblazer in four trims with two available powertrains and the option of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Depending on which trim and drivetrain you choose––LS, LT, ACTIV, or RS in FWD or AWD––your Trailblazer will come with either a 1.2-liter EcoTec turbo engine or a more powerful 1.3-liter version. The base LS FWD comes standard with the smaller 1.2-liter engine, which delivers 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque.
If you move up to the LT FWD, you’ll also get the 1.2-liter, but you can upgrade to the more powerful engine. Available on the LT FWD and standard on the ACTIV and RS FWD is the EcoTec 1.3-liter Turbo powertrain. It increases output to 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Both engines feature fuel-saving automatic start/stop technology. When you’re stopped at a traffic light or idling curbside, your engine will shut off to conserve fuel. When you touch the gas, it will restart automatically.
The 1.2-liter engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that’s designed to optimize fuel efficiency. Though it works differently from a traditional geared transmission, drivers will only notice its smooth-shifting manners. Every AWD Trailblazer receives the more powerful 1.3-liter engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the engine and drive train combination, drivers can take advantage of the Trailblazer’s selectable drive modes, which include Normal, Snow/All-Wheel Drive, and Sport. Each setting automatically adjusts shifting and acceleration to deliver a customized ride.
For 2023, Chevy has equipped the Trailblazer with all the latest infotainment and connected technology. A 7-inch color touchscreen comes standard, and LT, ACTIV, and RS buyers can upgrade to the larger, more functional 8-inch version by choosing the available Technology Package. Additionally, the optional 4.2-inch driver information center is also optional, offering a color display of key driver data, such as fuel range, tire pressure, and average speed.
All Trailblazer trims come with Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus, an operating system that optimizes your touchscreen’s features. For 2023, you can connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. You can also tap into the available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity feature, which allows you to use smartphone apps like Spotify and display maps and navigation on your vehicle’s screen.
Choosing the Technology Package will equip your Trailblazer with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a feature that has become extremely popular because it eliminates the need to deal with a connection cable cluttering your console area. Buyers can also opt for a Sirius XM satellite radio subscription to stream commercial-free content during a long commute.
As for smartphone charging, buyers will appreciate the standard type-A and type-C USB ports conveniently located on the center console. Type-C is compatible with iPhones, which means you won’t have to keep an older type-A cord on hand. Upper-level Trailblazer trims come available with a premium 7-speaker Bose audio system that takes advantage of cabin acoustics and delivers concert-grade sound. A four-speaker system is standard on all trims.
Best of all, every Trailblazer is available with Chevrolet Connected Access, an app-based convenience system that allows you to use your smartphone as a remote key. With Chevrolet Connected Access, you can lock/unlock your doors, perform a remote start, and even sound the horn, all from your phone. You can also keep track of key vehicle data, like fuel level and service/maintenance schedules. Chevy offers multiple subscriptions for buyers to dial in the features and services they want.
The 2023 Chevy Trailblazer is loaded with driver-assist safety technologies that utilize onboard cameras, radar, and sensors to continuously monitor road conditions. These systems work together to keep drivers alert and aware. The systems are designed to send alerts when potential hazards are present, so you can avoid collisions, stop accidentally drifting out of your lane, and even automate your cruise control to adjust speeds automatically in stop-and-go traffic.
This suite of driver-assist systems is called Chevy Safety Assist, and it includes six different technologies:
