This Equinox gives incredible fuel economy, an astounding 26 miles per gallon combined when equipped with front-wheel drive. The optional engine on the second-generation Equinox is a 3.0-liter V6 with 264 horsepower and 222 lb-ft of torque. While this will give you slightly lower fuel economy numbers, it provides you with much better acceleration. You can get either engine with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. As for safety, the engineers at Chevy put so much into the 2010 Equinox that it was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The third generation of the Chevy Equinox made its debut in 2018. At the time, Chevy decided to give drivers a choice of three different engines. The standard engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that has 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The first optional engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This might actually be the fastest Chevy Equinox ever made. The final optional engine is a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel with 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. This diesel Equinox gets the best fuel economy ever featured on this model, at 32 miles per gallon combined. As always, Chevy offers the Equinox with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
