NY Chevy Blazer Dealer

Few SUVs have had as storied a legacy as the Chevrolet Blazer. This midsize SUV first joined the Chevy lineup of great vehicles in 1969, when folks were listening to the Beatles sing Let It Be, and viewers were tuning into Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. After a break, Chevy brought the Blazer back in time for the 2019 model year. When you think about the vehicle needs of our folks who live and work in Upstate New York, you know that the Chevy Blazer checks all the boxes. It is rugged, dependable, and can handle itself in the extremes of hot and cold weather that we experience up here by the Capital District. In addition, it has the roominess we need for our weekly chores and the capability to go out on the trails we love, whether we’re visiting the Empire State Plaza or camping at Thompson’s Lake.

That’s why when you’re in the market for a Blazer, you need to go to a NY Chevy Blazer dealer you can depend on, like DePaula Chevrolet. We are family-owned and operated, with decades of experience serving drivers all over the Empire State. As an authorized Chevy dealership, we have a vast inventory of new, used, and certified pre-owned Chevy Blazer models, so you will have no problem finding the engine and trim you want with the capabilities you need to handle life here in the Albany area.

The Chevy Blazer Through the Years

Chevy enthusiasts were excited when Chevy announced it was bringing the Blazer back for the 2019 model year. The original Chevrolet K5 Blazer blazed a trail as one of the most rugged and dependable of the original SUVs that began to hit the roads and trails in the late 1960s. The K5 Blazer was originally a 4X4 model built on the K10 pickup truck platform that had proven so successful for Chevrolet, with a Dana 20 four-wheel drive transfer case. As a result, the original 1969 Blazer proved to be a blazing hit for Chevrolet, with drivers getting to choose between some great V8 and straight-6 engines. Drivers could now get the capabilities of a pickup truck matched with the creature comforts of a sedan, all at the affordable price that is Chevy’s specialty.

As Chevy moved into the 1970s, the Blazer continued to be tied to Chevy truck production, with bigger models featuring improved passenger safety and comfort features. Chevy maintained the powerful engines available on the K5 Blazer, adding even more capable and efficient options. This continued to give drivers the ability to choose between a more fuel-efficient 6-cylinder engine and a more powerful V8 with better towing capabilities.

However, fuel efficiency eventually became a problem for the Chevy K5 Blazer, so Chevrolet began using more composite materials to reduce weight, increasing the number of models built with the I-6 gas engine, and even introducing the smaller and more fuel-efficient S-10 Blazer in time for the 1983 model year. As the 1970s ended and fuel prices dropped during the 1980s, the I-6 was dropped after 1984 in favor of a 6.2-liter Detroit Diesel option. In addition, the gasoline V8 engine got bigger, topping out at a 5.7-liter V8 with 210 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque introduced for the 1987 model of the Blazer.

Just as the SUV market was starting to explode in the early 1990s, Chevy pulled the plug on the K5 Blazer. Its two-door design had become an anachronism for a full-size SUV, as other automakers, including Chevy, had moved to more convenient four-door designs, such as the Suburban and the Tahoe. As a result, the Blazer name was retired after the 1991 model year. This appeared to be the end, and that the Blazer had been snuffed. However, you can’t keep a good vehicle down, and just like the Phoenix, the Blazer rose from its ashes as an all-new midsize SUV. This new Blazer was introduced for the 2019 model year and combined the roominess of a full-size SUV with the handling and cornering of a smaller model, giving drivers the best of both worlds.

The 2022 Chevy Blazer

The 2022 Chevy Blazer is the latest and arguably greatest edition of this venerable SUV to ever hit the roads. The engineers at Chevy have delivered a Blazer that truly has it all. If you want to get amazing fuel economy, you can choose a model with front-wheel drive. On the other hand, if you want the added traction, you can choose one with advanced twin-clutch all-wheel drive.

Chevy offers the 2022 Blazer in four great trims with three spectacular special editions. Each of these special editions not only gives your Blazer a unique appearance but also features special equipment not found in a standard model. For example, the Redline Edition rides on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, giving you sporty handling and great looks.

The 2022 Chevy Blazer features two powerful yet efficient engine options, each paired with an electronically controlled 9-speed automatic transmission that will give you exceptional control over your engine’s performance. The standard 2.0-liter Turbo I-4 gas engine features variable valve timing, direct injection, and stop/start technology to improve fuel efficiency. This will give you 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque while delivering an astounding 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The 3.6-liter V6 also features fuel-saving technologies but has the ability to produce 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The Blazer with this engine can tow up to 4,500 pounds. The 2022 Blazer is also roomy, with a full 107.8 cubic feet of space for its five passengers and 30.5 cubic feet of trunk space that can be easily expanded to 64.2 cubic feet by folding down the rear row of seats.
