Interior
The 2026 Chevy Equinox is one of the most spacious compact SUVs on the market. It’s so spacious and provides impressive rear-row head and legroom. This makes it highly popular with passengers, including your children, even if they’re tall teenagers who will soon be behind the wheel themselves. You and your front-row passenger have 40 inches of headroom and 40.9 inches of legroom. Second-row passengers get 39.2 inches of headroom and 39.9 inches of legroom, meaning they don’t lose any more than an inch of head or legroom over what you get as the driver.
The 2026 Equinox also has excellent cargo space. It has 29.8 cu ft. of space when the back row seats are in use. Folding the second-row seats gives you an additional 33.7 cu ft., maxing out at 63.5 cu ft. of space. An available cargo mat covers the area, makes it easier to clean, and provides a protective layer against dust, dirt, sand, mud, snow, or anything else you don’t wish to track into your vehicle. Inside the 2026 Chevy Equinox are heated front seats on every trim. Ventilated front seats are optional on the RS and ACTIV trims, which also offer heated second-row seats. Cloth is standard on the LT, with an optional black cloth to lend a darker, more midnight aesthetic. Evotex leatherette—a synthetic leather known for durability and ease of cleaning—is standard on the RS. Upgrading to the ACTIV swaps both cloth and leatherette for a suede microfiber material that feels as high-quality as it looks.
The LT has a standard six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, but there’s an optional eight-way power-adjustable seat with power lumbar support. This power-adjustable chair is standard on the RS and ACTIV, while a 4-way manually adjustable front passenger seat is standard on all three trims. However, the RS and ACTIV offer an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, which also features power lumbar controls.
Chevy emphasizes comfort with the 2026 Equinox. Single-Zone Manual Climate Control is standard on the LT but can be replaced with Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control. These controls are standard on the RS and ACTIV, allowing you and your front-row passenger to each set interchangeable climates. You can use the A/C while your front passenger has the heat on or vice versa.
Technology
Tech is one of the 2026 Chevy Equinox’s strong suits. Every trim features an 11-inch Driver Information Center and a similarly-sized 11.3-inch infotainment center. The Driver Information Center displays your speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, and even “smart” features like displaying the weather, information on the current playing music track, turn-by-turn directions, and more. This excellent digital instrument cluster makes it impossible to return to traditional analog gauges. With a data plan, your hotspot provides a fast and safe internet connection that travels with you and your family everywhere. Charging your phone is also done wirelessly in the 2026 Equinox, with a wireless charging pad standard on the RS and ACTIV, and optional on the LT. However, the cabin still features USB ports, perfect for passengers who need to charge their devices.
The 2026 Chevy Equinox also has Keyless Open and Start standard on each trim. This means every 2026 Equinox has an electronic key fob communicating with it. When it detects the key fob is near the vehicle, it allows whoever has it on them to unlock and open the doors. Similarly, once whoever has the keyfob is in the vehicle, pressing the start button starts the ignition like turning a key would.
Chevy’s Teen Driver safety software is an excellent tech feature to give parents peace of mind and teenage drivers the foresight typically reserved for more experienced drivers. This software allows you to set speed limit notifications and gives you trip reports that indicate if there was any speeding. It also allows you to set audio limits to the radio, and a buckle-to-drive function temporarily prevents the teenager from shifting out of park until they’ve buckled their seatbelt.

Chevy Safety Assist is the Equinox’s standard safety suite and one of the most technologically impressive ones in its class. It has more standard features, even at the base level. A great example is features like Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Park Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Braking. No matter which trim you choose, you can be confident that your Equinox is packed with comprehensive features to give you the confidence you need on the road.
The standard Blind Zone Steering Assist uses a combination of sensors and cameras to scope your blind spot as you drive. If another driver is traveling within your blind spot, it will alert you to their presence. It does this by displaying an alert on whichever side mirror has another driver traveling alongside you and doesn’t disappear until your blind spot is clear.
The 2026 Chevy Equinox is fitted with various sensors and cameras, many of which are repurposed for additional features. For example, your blind-spot sensors and cameras enable Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and Side Bicyclist Alert. Rear Park Assist detects stationary objects wherever you’re reversing, such as a parking space, to alert you once you should stop your vehicle to avoid colliding with another vehicle, a telephone post, or anything else that may be in your way. Rear Cross Traffic Braking detects bypassing vehicles as you reverse out of a parking space, and will automatically apply the brakes if you fail to do so. Side Bicyclist Alert detects bicyclists riding alongside your vehicle that otherwise may be hard to spot and alerts you.
The 2026 Chevy Equinox has several standard safety features you’d expect, but that doesn’t make them any less impactful in how they’re paving the way for the next generation of advanced safety software. For example, the 2026 Equinox has standard Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking. It also has IntelliBeam high beams that automatically turn on and off to improve road visibility when needed, without worsening visibility for other drivers by dynamically turning off when another driver is approaching.
Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking pre-determines the likelihood of a front-end collision before it occurs by considering your speed and the vehicles the front-end sensors detect. If you don’t apply the brakes quickly, your 2026 Equinox will take action and stop itself. Front Pedestrian Braking also stops your vehicle automatically to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, whether they’re at a crosswalk or not.
