Engines and Power
There are three different engines available for the 2020 Chevy Colorado, so no matter what you are looking for, there is an option that will work for you. Keep in mind that there are some restrictions on which engine you can choose based on the trim level you are interested in. That being said, here are the engines available on the Colorado.
The standard engine on two of the available trim levels is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and offers up to 3,500 lbs of maximum towing when properly configured. If you want more power, then there is an available 3.6L DOHC V6 engine that provides up to 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offers up to 7,000 lbs of maximum towing when properly configured.
Finally, two of the trim levels for the 2020 Chevy Colorado also have a third engine available: a 2.8L Duramax Turbo-Diesel 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and when properly configured, allows for up to 7,700 lbs of towing capacity. With 2WD, this engine also provides an estimated 20/30 mpg in the city and on the highway, giving you fantastic towing and great fuel economy.
There are five different trim levels to choose from with the 2020 Chevy Colorado, which lets you choose a truck that has everything you need without a bunch of extra features you do not want. This level of customization is one of our favorite things about the modern Colorado, and makes it easier for us to work with our customers and help you find the perfect pickup. Although this will not include every detail, here are some brief explanations of each trim.
The Base trim has the standard 2.5L engine, with no other options, as well as a 4-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch infotainment screen, and a 3-inch driver information screen. Overall, the features with this model are pretty limited, but it is a great starting point. From there, you can step up to the WT or Work Truck model, which starts with the same engine but also has the 3.6L V6 available. The WT trim includes the same Infotainment center and driver seat, but also includes better rear seating.
Then there is the LT trim, which also starts with the same engine and has the 3.6L V6 available. The interior of the LT is nicer, however, with an 8-inch Infotainment display, HD radio, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat. With the LT, you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 4-inch driver information center, and single-zone climate control. From there, you can step up to the Z71, which includes the better engine as well as heated front seats, 17-inch painted wheels, and an EZ Lift & Lower tailgate for better overall functionality. Some configurations of the LT and the Z71 also have the 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine available, but that depends on cab size and box length.
Finally, there is the ZR2 trim, which is designed specifically with going off-road in mind. Not only does the ZR2 have a unique off-road appearance package, but it also includes off-road suspension, increased ground clearance, and a damping system for a better off-road experience. It is also worth noting that the ZR2 is only available with 4WD, since it is an off-road trim, and has the Turbo-Diesel engine available. There is also is ZR2 Bison Package, which provides an even more rugged, off-road ready look.
Many of the interior features depend on which trim level you choose, so take a good look at the different trims available to see how they differ and what each one offers. With that in mind, however, there are also some great interior options available beyond the basic trims and what they each bring to the table. With these options, you can customize your 2020 Chevy Colorado further and get a pickup that really offers everything you are looking for.
Some of the interior options include an upgraded infotainment system that features navigation to help you find where you are going in the city or on the way to the trails. There is also an option for a 7-speaker Bose premium audio system that offers rich, high-quality sound so you can really enjoy your music. Interior illumination is available through several different packages and options, so if you want to make the inside cabin truly your own space, you can. A wireless charging system is also available, which makes it easy to quickly charge your compatible devices without any plugs or extra wires.
To us, the most important aspect of any vehicle is safety. No matter how much power or towing capacity a truck can offer, what matters most is that it will keep you safe while you drive. The 2020 Chevy Colorado has a number of great standard and available safety features that will protect you and your loved ones.
Standard safety features at certain trims include StabiliTrak with electronic stability and traction control, six airbags, and an HD rear vision camera. There is a tire pressure monitoring system and a tire fill alert, both of which help you ensure your tires are properly filled to give you a smooth, safe ride. There is also an included Teen Driver system, which you can configure to enable and disable certain features when a young person is driving. This is a way to reduce distractions and reinforce safe habits for a new driver behind the wheel.
Available active safety features take things a step further and make the 2020 Chevy Colorado one of the safest trucks on the road. These include available forward collision alert, a lane departure warning, and rear park assist. With these features, you know that you are safer on the road, and other drivers around you are also protected from possible mistakes you might make while driving. After all, none of us are perfect – so these features help avoid potential collisions.
