When you slip behind the wheel of the 2020 Chevy Sonic, you will be greeted by a well-appointed cabin no matter which trim level you choose. Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside this sleek beauty.
The Sonic LS is a great commuter vehicle. It’s budget-friendly, but still comes with plenty of infotainment features to help make your drive to work more enjoyable. Remote locking/unlocking makes it easy to get in and out of the vehicle, and the driver’s seat is manually adjustable 4-ways for comfort during long rides. The tilt-and-telescoping steering column is also adjustable to suit your height. The infotainment interface is displayed on a 7-inch touchscreen that operates with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling. Compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you can listen to your favorite playlist through the 4-speaker stereo system. Dual USB ports are also provided for charging more than one mobile device at the same time.
The Chevy Sonic LT is offered as a sedan or hatchback. Both body styles can seat up to five passengers comfortably. The cabin seating is covered in upgraded cloth upholstery, and the sound system has also been upgraded to 6-speakers with satellite radio. Two packages are available for the LT as well. The Convenience package adds heated front seats with power-adjustable settings, an enhanced driver information display, and proximity entry with push-button start. The Driver Confidence package includes an array of advanced safety features like lane-departure warning, forward collision alert, and rear parking sensors to assist with backing up in tight spaces and parallel parking.
The top-of-the-line Premier trim level includes everything from the lower two trims along with the Convenience package. Its luxurious cabin is covered in simulated leather upholstery that is vegan-friendly. On the Premier hatchback, suede microfiber inserts decorate the seats for an even more elegant look. A 4G LTE Wifi hotspot is also included to keep you connected everywhere you go. Cruise control, a rear window electric defogger, and a rearview camera are a few other advanced features on this model as well. A tire pressure monitoring system will also alert you if your tires of under- or overinflated. Another available package for this trim is the RS package. This one mostly gives stylish enhancements to the exterior, which will be covered later. However, for the interior, the RS package adds leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel with a sporty, 3-spoke design and contrasting stitching. The cabin is also carpeted and features deluxe floor mats and has a Piano Black instrument panel for a sleeker look. The Driver Confidence suite of safety features can also be added to this trim.
As for the interior difference based on body style alone, the trunk volume in the sedan is about 15 cubic feet, and the hatchback offers 19 cubic feet of space. However, the hatchback can do something that the sedan cannot. By folding down the rear seats, you can access up to 47.7 cubic feet of cargo room. The front head and legroom for both styles remain the same at 38.7 inches and 41.8 inches.
