Although there are already a number of great SUVs available from Chevrolet, they have never been one to rest on their laurels nor fail to innovate. The all-new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is the perfect example of that, offering a new compact option that is a bit larger than the Chevy Trax, while available at a lower starting price. This makes it an exciting new option for anyone interested in a smaller SUV while offering exceptional performance, two impressive engines, and several excellent trims to choose from.
There are still a few details about the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer that we do not have yet, but as more information comes in, we will certainly update what we know. That being said, there are at least five different trims officially announced by Chevrolet, so you can get the features you need without going overboard. We have seen two different engines that offer great choices for a wide range of drivers, and the standard and available safety options are excellent. In other words, the Trailblazer has pretty much everything you could want and makes for a fantastic small SUV option on the market.

So far, from what we have seen, there will be two engines available for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. While neither engine is a massive beast that provides insane amounts of power, they do present you with two great options to choose from. This allows you to get the kind of performance you need, without going overboard.
It seems that the standard engine will be a 1.2L 3-cylinder engine that offers up to 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously-variable transmission and an FWD design. This should work well for many people, but if you want more power and functionality for handling rough terrain, then you have another choice available to you. The available 1.3L 3-cylinder engine will give you more power, delivering up to 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque for higher performance. This engine will have AWD optional and comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that should provide a more responsive and powerful driving experience.
We expect that the 1.3L engine will likely be available only on certain trims, like the RS and probably the ACTIV trim too.
There are at least five trims available for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, though more may be announced. The five that we know about, however, are already fantastic and present excellent options and features for you to choose from. This lets you easily get everything that you want, without going too far into options you do not need or missing out on something that is important to you.
The baseline trim on the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is called the L and comes with the basic 1.2L engine along with a few extra features. These include front safety technologies and LED signature daytime running lamps. From there, you can upgrade to the LS, which has the content of the L plus a number of extra standard features. The LS includes fold-flat passenger seating and 17-inch painted aluminum wheels.
Next up is the LT, which includes roof rails, fog lamps, and heated seats. The LT also has a remote start and several other great features that really sets it apart from the L and LS. The ACTIV is one of the most exciting trims for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer and immediately distinguishes itself from the lower trims with a two-tone roof. It also has a dual exhaust, leatherette seating, and rugged sport terrain tires for better performance in rough conditions. Finally, the RS is the highest available trim for the Trailblazer and also features a two-tone roof and dual exhaust, plus 18-inch wheels and a flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Despite starting at a lower price than the Chevy Trax, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is actually slightly larger than the Trax, creating an opportunity for a very well-priced small SUV that gives you a bit more interior cargo room than you would initially expect. The Trax, for example, offers up to about 48 cu.ft. of interior cargo space behind the front seat, which is very good. With the Trailblazer, however, you get up to 54 cu.ft. of interior cargo space. This is a lot of room for shopping bags or camping supplies.
In terms of the interior features that you will be able to get inside of the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, we do not yet have all of the details on what will be available, but we know some things you can expect. The Trailblazer will feature Chevy's latest infotainment software and technology, giving you available wireless support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There will also be a wireless charging pad available on the Trailblazer, so you can charge compatible devices without the need to plug them in. It will have a nice, big infotainment display that looks great, as well as luxury options at high trims to ensure a sophisticated and very comfortable ride.
One of the most impressive aspects of the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is the vast selection of standard safety features, with even more available. A rear vision camera and rear seat reminder are both standard, as you would expect, as is Chevy's Teen Driver system. This allows you to indicate a particular key fob for a new driver, which activates or deactivates certain systems when they are driving to help reinforce safe driving behavior.
Other standard features include automatic emergency braking at speeds under 50 mph and a forward collision alert. The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer also features front pedestrian braking, along with a following-distance indicator, which warns you when the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you has grown too short to drive safely at your current speed. Finally, lane-keep assist with a lane departure warning is also standard on the Trailblazer, making it one of the safest options for a small SUV.
Additional available safety features include a lane change alert with a side blind zone alert, which warns you when a moving vehicle is detected approaching or in the side blind zone area. There is also an available rear cross-traffic alert to help when backing up safely to warn you when a vehicle or object is detected passing behind you. Available rear park assist warns you at low speeds when you are in reverse and approaching an object, which helps with parking in tight spots or crowded areas. Available adaptive cruise control uses camera technology to automatically adapt the Trailblazer's speed to maintain the distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you while cruise control is enabled. There is also an available HD rear vision camera for improved rear visibility with a sharper picture to show you objects and vehicles behind you more clearly.
