Five Reasons Why the 2025 Suburban Is Worth the Wait

Chevrolet has announced that the 2025 Suburban is set to debut in late 2024 and will get a refresh that delivers all kinds of improvements. If you’re looking at a new Chevy Suburban for sale today, you’ll still be seeing the 2024 model, which has plenty to love, of course. But with the new Suburban set to release soon, is it worth waiting to buy until the refresh has been rolled out?
If you’re on the fence, we’re here to give you some reasons why it might be smart to hold out for the 2025 model. Of course, at the end of the day, it’s all up to what makes the most sense for you. But if the features highlighted here are top priorities for you, then it’s certainly worth considering.
Before we dive in with the list, we’ll give you a brief overview of the Suburban. This full-size SUV is one of the longest-running continuously-produced nameplates in the United States since it’s been used by Chevy since 1935. Given that, it’s not surprising that the 2025 refresh is only the latest in a long line of upgrades that the Suburban has received over the years. In fact, the model entered its 12th generation in 2021, gaining an improved suspension system and a longer body alongside improved tech. The Suburban offers a cavernous cabin with plenty of room for passengers and cargo, as well as a solid towing capacity that can be used to bring even more along for the ride.
#1. Upgraded Tech Throughout
A large SUV deserves a large touchscreen, and the 2025 Suburban delivers. While the 2024 model has an 8-inch infotainment screen for the base LS model and a 10.2-inch screen on higher trims, the 2025 model comes standard with a new 17.7-inch screen that can display more information at once and makes it easier to see camera views and read text at a glance so you can keep your eyes on the road. The screen is tilted slightly toward the driver for easy access but still keeps the front passenger in mind so you can get help from your co-pilot out on the road. In addition to this screen in the middle of the dash, there’s also an 11-inch driver information center behind the wheel, which is fully digital, so you can customize it to match your priorities.
The infotainment setup is probably the most dramatic upgrade, but it’s not the only new tech onboard. There’s also a new available AutoSense Power Liftgate. While the old hands-free power liftgate requires you to kick your foot out under the rear bumper, the new system opens when it senses the key fob behind the vehicle, so you can easily load up the cargo area when your arms are full. While the 2024 Suburban also offers available wireless charging, the 2025 model has a redesigned center console that puts the charging pad in a more convenient location while creating new storage solutions.
New and enhanced trailering features make towing easier and safer than ever before. The 2025 Suburban features a Trailer Tire Health monitor that warns you when a blowout is imminent and a special Trailer Navigation feature that considers trailer size when planning routes. The Forward Path Indication feature shows you guidelines to help you turn with a big trailer in tow, while Boat Ramp Assist gives you step-by-step instructions for towing, launching, and retrieving a boat. The Mobile Trailering App is a helpful tool that includes information about your specific model’s load rating, so you’re never flying blind. When properly equipped, the Suburban can tow up to 8,200 lbs.

#2. A Refined Ride
Whether you’re driving by yourself, with a friend or two, or with two back rows full of kids, you want the ride to feel nice and smooth from start to finish. The Suburban has long been known for delivering a comfortable drive on all kinds of roads. The 2024 model features a multi-link independent rear suspension system smoothing over bumps, an available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension that can automatically adjust ride height depending on where you’re driving or parked, and available Magnetic Ride Control, which has sensors taking readings 1,000 times a second so that damping can swiftly react to changes in road conditions.
Still, engineers were able to find room for improvement and make some tweaks to make the 2025 Suburban even better. The suspension system and steering calibration have both been updated to be more responsive, so the large SUV feels more nimble and easy to control.
#3. Cutting-Edge Safety Features
Safety is always a top priority at Chevrolet, and the Suburban reflects that. Like models before it, the 2025 Suburban comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of helpful features including Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking with Front Pedestrian and Side Bicyclist Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and IntelliBeam automatic high beam headlights.
Features like Teen Driver and Buckle to Drive are also standard and help parents teach their permit-aged kids to stay safe behind the wheel. Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist and HD Surround Vision are available and help you keep track of your surroundings — something that’s not always easy from behind the wheel of such a large vehicle.
Two new features join the lineup for the 2025 Suburban. Interior motion sensors are a brand-new feature from General Motors that detects specific patterns of movement in the Suburban cabin while it’s parked. If a child or pet gets stuck inside the car, this feature can detect the danger and use a series of alerts to make you aware of the situation.
Connected Cameras uses the cameras already onboard the Suburban in a new way, allowing you to access their feeds remotely. You can look at live view if you’re worried about security and use the automatic Crash Recording function to get valuable proof to show your insurance company in the case of an accident. All of this is easily accessible through the myChevrolet mobile app.

#4. A Diesel Engine That Delivers More Power
The Suburban’s diesel engine offers high torque for easy towing and is more fuel efficient than the gas-powered options, saving you money at the pump. While the diesel engine available on the 2024 Suburban is capable of producing up to 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the second-generation version of the 3.0L Duramax available on the 2025 model churns out 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. In addition to that extra power, the new diesel powertrain also has improved temperature control features and new sound absorption materials in order to provide an even better driving experience.
#5. A Modern Look Inside and Out
The cherry on top of the Suburban refresh is the styling updates. All six trims get a modern front-end design that makes a great first impression, and some trims get a unique version that sets them apart from the crowd. For example, the off-road Z71 trim has a high-approach front fascia that reflects its rugged capability, while the top-tier High Country trim gets a sophisticated exterior that mixes black and Galvano chrome trim to create a luxurious aesthetic. When it comes to the paint color, you have two new options to consider: Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic.
In the front and back, new lighting elements are both stylish and functional. The daytime running lights are sleeker and better integrated into the body, creating strong light thanks to an angled prism incorporated into the design. Dual C-shaped light designs match those seen in other Chevrolet vehicles, giving the SUV look distinctly like a Chevy. The Premier and High Country trims come standard with welcome and walk-away lighting animations and have animated swipe turn signals that are sure to capture the attention of drivers around you.
