The 2024 Chevy Colorado Brings Big Truck Energy With Its Tailgate Features

Considering the current lineup of Chevy trucks for sale for your small business? The midsize Colorado is up to handle the day-to-day grind of many contractors in and around Albany, NY. Beyond the typical functions of a midsize truck, this truck has a tailgate designed to meet the needs of small businesses.
We know that many truck drivers treat their truck bed like their mobile office and need to use it for various tasks. We also know you might demand a lot from your truck bed, getting one that can transport all sorts of items of varying shapes and sizes. If strength and reliability are what you’re after, the 2024 Colorado will pleasantly surprise you with all it has going on in its truck bed. Let’s take a look.
The StowFlex Tailgate
This feature is new for the 2024 model, and drivers are buzzing about it. The StowFlex Tailgate has a lockable storage compartment with a built-in drain. There are many reasons why we can’t get enough of this feature. Some drivers worry that the midsize dimensions of the Colorado won’t leave much room in the cabin to store valuables. Since some workers don’t feel comfortable leaving tools and similar valuables in the bed, they need somewhere to stock these items. This lockable storage compartment provides a secure place to store high-priced items while freeing up space in the cab.
As for the StowFlexs’ drain, having that just means you’re free to turn the storage compartment into your cooler. Maybe you want to load it up with ice and beverages for a tailgate party or to keep a work crew hydrated for a long day. Once the ice melts, just open the drain and let the water out. You’ll also appreciate the drain when your crew tosses damp tools in the storage compartment. Dry it out by opening that drain, then simply wipe it down with a towel.
17 Available Tie-downs
You’ll be rich with tie-downs with this truck bed. It comes with eight standard tie-downs, but you can get up to 17 available tie-downs. If you will be traveling on freeways or bumpy roads, your items must be securely tied down. Even a tiny bump at high speeds can send items flying, which can cause a traffic fine—or worse. The available 17 tie-downs should give you more than enough ways to secure items of various shapes and sizes, like logs or stacks of wood boards. So you can drive with confidence, knowing that your items are secure.
Mid-Position Tailgate
We regularly work with shoppers who wonder whether or not the bed of the Colorado can support long items because it is a midsize model. We love to show them its mid-position tailgate option. You can set the tailgate propped at an angle so that it’s not fully open or closed. This can provide a way to keep longer items inside without fear of them rolling out. Additionally, this tailgate can support up to 500 lbs. So you can put a motorcycle, large boxes of tools, boxes of heavy materials, and more on there.

Built-in Tailgate Measurement Tool
Suppose you are a contractor, architect, or similar professional. In that case, you likely have to measure all sorts of items all the time. When you forget your tape measure or ruler back at the office, you will love the built-in tailgate measurement tool. Its measurements range from one to 48 inches, meaning you can measure items that are up to four feet in length. When you’re making sure you get that perfect size of floorboard or cabinet door for a client before installing it, you can do a quick measurement in the bed of the Colorado. This feature is especially useful if you do a lot of work on remote job sites, where there might not be an office with measuring tools nearby.
Available Built-In Bed Power Outlet
Need to power a variety of appliances and tools at your job sites? You’ll love the available built-in bed power outlet. This 110-volt AC outlet can power various items like power tools, laptops, electric pumps, and battery banks. We recommend getting this for contractors who work at remote locations where there aren’t many (if any) wall outlets to be found. Or when you simply don’t want to run an extension cord from inside a structure out to your pickup truck just to power a drill.
Available Cargo Lighting
If your work days don’t stop just because the sun has set or you have to start your projects before sunrise, you’ll appreciate the available cargo lighting. This built-in bed lighting will illuminate your tools, materials, blueprints, and more. When you don’t feel like (or don’t have room to) drag standing lights with you to remote work sites, you’ll love being able to see all your essentials in the truck bed. When daylight savings catches you by surprise, and you didn’t realize you’d be working in the dark, this is a great perk.
A Few Additional Highlights of the Colorado
The Colorado has a bed size of 5.2 feet and has 41.9 cu.ft. of space. That said, the Colorado is capable of hauling a maximum of 1,836 pounds when properly configured. As far as seating is concerned, you can easily fit five passengers in the cab. There are five available trims to consider: the WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2.
The bed is not all there is to love about this incredible model. You can equip the Colorado with one of two mighty engines. Your first option is a 2.7L turbo 4-cylinder engine that is capable of 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. With this engine equipped, you can tow up to 3,500 lbs. This is enough for a small trailer to get your equipment around Albany. If you need more power, you can opt for the 2.7L TurboMax 4-cylinder engine that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. With this engine and the proper equipment, the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs.
