We get it—there are a lot of used vehicles out there. So why should you choose a used Chevy for sale over all of the other available brands? Whether you’re shopping for a used sedan, truck, or SUV, you probably have a lot on your mind when starting your search. You might be trying to stick to a certain budget and want to be absolutely certain that your investment in a used vehicle makes sense. Furthermore, you need to feel confident in what you’re driving and know that it will keep you on the road for a long time. And, of course, no one wants to get stuck driving a vehicle they don’t love. With so many options available, choosing a Chevy means not having to compromise on your favorite features. Here are our top five reasons why we think choosing a used Chevy makes sense.

#1 – Affordable on Many Budgets

As you can imagine, there are many factors that go into determining the price of a used automobile. First, we have to consider the original retail price, along with mileage and the overall condition of a used vehicle. We might want to make some minor repairs or replacements to increase the lifespan of the vehicle. We also need to look at the model, trim, options, and packages that may have been added to the vehicle when new.

That being said, the Chevrolet brand has value and affordability in mind when they engineer their new vehicles. Most models are offered in a wide variety of trims that allow drivers to drop into their favorite model at a price point that makes sense for them. Chevy drivers also have more opportunities to customize their brand-new models than many other manufacturers offer. As a result, drivers are far more likely to find a used Chevy in their price range, regardless of how hopeless that budget may seem or how long their list of mandatory comfort and convenience features may be.

Since its introduction in 2015, the Chevy Trax has been seen as an ideal entry-level SUV. Its smaller size, impressive fuel economy, and low price tag are appealing to lots of drivers for obvious reasons, but the Trax offers a lot more than those basics, including Apple Auto and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, and a surprising amount of cargo space with the rear seat folded.

#2 – Long-Term Value

Chevy vehicles are known for retaining their value for many years. In addition to having an ever-growing lifespan of several hundred thousand miles, many Chevy models are known for retaining their value over time. In fact, three Chevy models were named Kelley Blue Book’s “Best Resale Value” models for 2023, including the Chevrolet Corvette, Bolt EV, and Silverado HD.

An example of this retained value can be found in the Silverado 1500. Despite being nearly a decade old, the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 is still held in high regard as one of the all-time best Silverado 1500 models. Having made its debut in the transition period between the second and third-generation Silverado 1500, the 2016 model is a highly capable vehicle with a towing maximum of 8,900 lbs.

However, Chevy understands that a vehicle’s value is tied to more than its functionality. What helps the 2016 Silverado 1500 stand out among other vehicles of its age is its overall liveability. 2016 comes with a selection of three engines, two of which are flex-fuel compliant, which ensures that even the most powerful, all-wheel-drive-only 6.2L V8 engine offers up to 21 MPG on the highway.

While some of the technology, such as the Apple CarPlay compatibility, may be outdated by today’s standards, the features included in the Enhanced Driver Alert Package are not. Known today as the Chevy Safety Assist suite, features like Forward Collision Alert and Active Safety Lane Keep Assist were available for the 2016 model year.

#3 – A History of Excellence

The Chevrolet Motor Company dates back to 1911, which means Chevy has over a century of experience producing vehicles for the American driving public. Since then, innovation has been a mainstay of the automotive industry. Each year, new technology makes driving easier, safer, more comfortable, more economical, and more environmentally friendly.

You’re probably familiar with the Chevy Suburban. The largest SUV in Chevy’s lineup, the Suburban is a three-row vehicle known for offering plenty of room for people and cargo alike. In fact, it has been known as exactly that since 1935, when the Suburban Carry-All was able to haul up to eight passengers and a massive amount of cargo, making it a beloved vehicle for families and farmers alike.

The modern Chevy Suburban is still favored for its incredible versatility. From tailgating at the sports stadium to cross-country treks, drivers have treasured the Suburban for nearly 100 years. Furthermore, the Chevy Suburban has its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, thanks to its major contributions to films. How many brands have that kind of history?

#4 – Plenty of Variety

They say that for every driver, there’s at least one car that meets their exact preferences. In most cases, that one car is a Chevy. That may sound like a bold statement, but consider Chevy’s vehicle lineup. The same manufacturer that makes the massive Suburban is also responsible for the iconic Chevy Corvette.

This vast amount of variety is best displayed in Chevy’s pickup truck lineup. First, you’ll want to select from the Colorado, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500 HD, or Silverado 3500. Each model year is offered in a choice of bed/cabin configurations and engine options. You also have to consider which trim best suits your needs—the Silverado 1500 alone is typically offered in around nine trim levels, depending on the model year you’re looking at. This brings us to the final reason on this list…

#5 – An Almost Endless Set of Options

While shopping for a used car often means having to compromise on what you want versus what you need, the sheer number of trims, options, and packages Chevy offers makes it far more likely that you’ll find your perfect used Chevy. Other manufacturers tend to lock in their trims with very few options outside of the standard. Chevy famously allows drivers a vast number of customization options.

The Chevy Traverse has earned its reputation as one of the best family-oriented SUVs thanks to its long list of potential customizations. Whether you select a seven or eight-seat configuration, this three-row SUV offers trims that range from skillful to luxurious. Still, standard features like multi-zone climate control and USB ports in each row are meaningful to all drivers, regardless of budget.
