In partnership with Qmerit, Chevrolet's Standard Home Installation starts with finding a Qmerit electrician to determine your home's compatibility. If compatible, the electrician will obtain the necessary permits and schedule the installation of a 240-volt outlet. If not compatible, Chevrolet will give you up to a $1,250 Home Installation Credit to cover the installation of the outlet and the required permits. If you opt for the EVgo Credit, Chevy gives you a $500 credit at EVgo Public Charging Stations across the country.
With a home charging station, charging your electric car is as easy as charging your smartphone. Level 1 chargers work with a standard electric outlet and are considered the "slowest" option, adding about four miles to the battery every hour of charge. Level 2 chargers, like the 240-volt outlet covered with your home installation kit, are significantly faster and can add about 25 miles to your range per hour. For quicker charging, you can opt for the 240-volt charger with an 80-amp service to boost this capability to over 35 miles per hour of charge, depending on the EV.
When you're not at home, Chevrolet gives you plenty of options to conveniently charge your EV with a network of over 40,000 public charging stations across North America. You can easily find these stations and plan the most efficient route using the myChevrolet Mobile App's Energy Assist tool. Through the tool, you can access vital vehicle data like the status of your EV's battery and charging settings. With this real-time data always on hand, you know when, where, and how long you'll need to recharge your EV.
When it's time to recharge, the process is also incredibly straightforward. Once you arrive at the charging station, you simply pull into a charging spot and plug your vehicle into the provided outlet. So, how long will it take? In-town charging stations are typically Level 2 chargers and can give you about 40 miles for each hour of charging. If you're in a hurry, you can stop at a DC fast-charging station and add around 100 miles to your range in half an hour.
There are countless Level 2 and DC fast-charging stations throughout the Albany area.
