The powertrain has also been upgraded to make use of the E85 FlexFuel compatibility for the 6.6-liter V8, which utilizes blends of concentrated ethanol and gasoline that’s blended at up to 83%, helping overall fuel efficiency.

The trailering for the 2500 HD and 3500 HD were specifically upgraded for the 2021 model years. This included increasing the 3500 HD’s max trailering capabilities by 500 pounds compared to the 2020 model. The 3500 HD’s max cargo capacity tops out at 7,442 pounds when configured as a regular cab with the long bed on a two-wheel drive setup. There’s also a maximum cargo volume of 83.5 cubic feet of space to utilize for hauling goods in the bed of the truck.

The 2500 HD is no pushover, though, and manages a max trailering load of up to 18,510 pounds when configured in the crew cab format in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive configurations with 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.
