2021 Chevy Traverse: The Best Chevy SUV?

If you’re looking for the best Schenectady Chevy dealer, then come visit DePaula Chevrolet. However, as you look through our wide selection of quality vehicles, you may be wondering what exactly is the best Chevy vehicle to buy. Each Chevy vehicle is built with that same indistinguishable quality that only a manufacturer with as much history behind it could develop. However, that doesn’t mean that every Chevy model is equally well-suited to every driver. No matter how incredible the new Corvette is, you wouldn’t want it as a family vehicle.
The best all-around Chevy for most drivers is the Chevy Traverse. SUVs had a quick rise to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s, and manufacturers such as Chevy began developing and producing their own. By the 2010s, the formula had been perfected, and the midsize Chevy Traverse was introduced to the world. It has been a fan-favorite for years, and its legacy resonates to this day with the 2021 Chevy Traverse.
What Trims Are Available?
Carrying over from previous model years, the 2021 Chevy Traverse can be configured with a multitude of different trim levels. The L remains the base trim level, this time starting at an MSRP of $29,800. Impressively, this base trim is a fantastic value, namely due to containing the same V6 powertrain as its higher-tier counterparts. Additionally, it contains a feature-rich infotainment center, albeit with a smaller 7-inch screen standard. With such a terrific value sitting at the forefront, you may be wondering how its succeeding trims stack up against it. The answer to this question is quite well actually.
Further down the list of trims, you’ll find selections such as the LS with a built-in Driver Mode Selector. As the name suggests, this allows you to select various degrees of traction control on your Traverse, adapting the vehicle to respond better to the terrain at hand. The LT comes in two different styles, the first of which sports cloth seating, while the other has leather. This isn’t the only difference between the two, as LT Leather also includes a larger 8-inch infotainment screen and various additional safety features standard while retaining features of LT Cloth, such as the 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
The RS adds more safety features to the mix thanks and has an exterior that visually pleases with an elegant contrast because of black trim around the vehicle’s exterior and 20-inch Dark Android alloy wheels. The two very best trims within the Traverse’s catalog are the Premier and High Country. The Premier is well regarded for its luxurious feature set, which includes perforated leather seating with heated seats not only for you and your front-seat passenger but those in the second row as well. Most notably, the Premier features a charging pad that allows you to charge your smartphones wirelessly if your device supports the function.
High Country adds even more safety features to the Traverse, including Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking. This is a very important safety feature that can prevent accidents and save lives by helping to apply the brakes in an emergency. High Country also includes a standard two-panel power sunroof, allowing more sunlight and fresh air into your cabin, plus it has a built-in sunscreen to avoid glare.

Does The 2021 Traverse Perform Well?
As previously mentioned, the 2021 Traverse utilizes one powertrain across all its trims. The standard V6 inside of the Traverse is both powerful and efficient. Additionally, one powertrain makes the shopping experience a much simpler one as you can comfortably opt for a more affordable model and still retain identical performance. This proven V6 engine has been part of the lineup as far back as 2018 and provides 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. With this performance, the Traverse is capable of towing up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped, which should be plenty of strength to tow a boat, small trailer, or even a camper for vacation.
This engine comes paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, meaning you can expect seamlessly smooth and well-timed gear shifting while you’re gaining speed on the road. Even with this engine’s large size and excellent performance, the V6 manages to remain fuel-efficient as well, earning EPA-estimated ratings of 18 MPG city and 27 MPG highway with its standard front-wheel drive configuration. It’s worth noting that if you opt for a Traverse with all-wheel drive, these ratings will be slightly decreased, but the vehicle still retains a respectable 17 MPG city and 25 MPG highway.
How Spacious is The Interior?
Because the Traverse is a midsize SUV, it’s capable of seating more people thanks to three available rows of seating. This translates to a maximum capacity of eight passengers with another configuration that allows for seven. Where this becomes even more notable is when the seats are all folded downward, and you’ll have a massive 98.2 cubic feet of cargo space to work with. Even with passengers in the second row, you can have 57.8 cubic feet of space by folding the third row, and you’ll still have a generous 23 cubic feet of space when all three rows are in use. This gives you plenty of room for everything from luggage to furniture.
Of course, if a vehicle’s interior isn’t comfortable, nobody would want to sit in it. Fortunately, this is not the case with the 2021 Traverse, and its aforementioned cargo space only hints at how large the cabin is. When sitting inside of the Traverse, you’ll be immediately enamored with its quality, and short or tall, you’ll have plenty of space for your head and your legs. When sitting inside of the Traverse, both you and the passenger to your right will have a whopping 41.3-inches of headroom and a nearly identical 41-inches of legroom. This also translates to the rear rows of seats, with passengers in the second row enjoying 40-inches of headroom and 38.4-inches of legroom. Many SUVs can fit a third row of seats, but few do it as glamorously as the Traverse with its generous 38.2-inches of headroom and 33.5-inches of legroom.
