A Trim Guide to the 2025 Chevy Equinox
The Chevy Equinox is back for another exciting year on the market, and at DePaula Chevrolet, we cannot wait to show it off to our Albany customers! The Equinox has snagged awards and accolades in nearly every category. J.D. Power was named #1 for “Long-Term Dependability Among Compact SUVs,” the NHTSA gave it a 5-star overall safety award, and S&P Global Mobility gave it the “Automotive Loyalty” Award. There’s so much to love about the Equinox, and now that the 2025 model is starting to arrive, we’d love to give you a rundown of the trims for this year. Interested in a Chevy Equinox for sale in Albany? Let’s get to know this tremendous compact SUV!
The LT Trim: An Excellent Daily Driver
Maybe you just want a nice versatile vehicle that’s perfect for running errands around the capital and heading out for shopping and dining at the Empire State Plaza. If that sounds like your ideal vehicle, consider the LT. This is the Equinox’s starting trim, and it has a ton to offer. For starters, every trim of the 2025 Equinox can be ordered with all-wheel drive. So you can get the traction you need during those snowy months in Albany.
Even as the starting trim, the LT already gets you heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. So you and your front-seat passenger can enjoy full-body warmth on cold days. Plus, when your hands are too frozen to drive, that heated steering wheel can quickly fix that. You’ll sit on quality cloth trim seats in this trim. The LT trim can be ordered with the Equinox’s statement two-tone roof for a youthful, energetic appearance. It can also be ordered with a panoramic sunroof, so on nice days when you want to let some extra light in the cabin, you can!
Every trim of the 2025 Equinox comes with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver assist features, which includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Front Pedestrian Braking, meaning the vehicle will alert you to a pending crash and can take over braking to avoid a collision with a vehicle or person when necessary. You’ll also get Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, which will alert you if you’re drifting from your lane and gently guide you back into it when needed. A Following Distance Indicator will ensure you keep a safe distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, and IntelliBeam high beams will automatically turn on in low-light settings to improve visibility.
The LT trim enjoys the same 1.5L turbocharged engine found across the lineup, which gets excellent fuel economy. Plus, it has the power to tow 1,500 lbs, so you can trailer a small boat or camper with this trim and all others. On the technology front, the LT has a massive 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen paired with an 11-inch diagonal driver information center. Plus, you’ll enjoy Google built-in, giving you the power to use apps like Google Play and Google Maps right there in your vehicle. The LT trim is the building block for the lineup, so the next two trims will have everything discussed here, with some improvements or distinct features added.
The ACTIV Trim: An Adventurer’s SUV
For the first time, the Equinox gets the ACTIV trim this year. A popular trim on the Trailblazer and Trax, Chevy’s subcompact SUVs, the ACTIV trim is an adventure-ready, off-road vehicle. It’s also simply great for camping and outdoor recreation overall, whether you’re staying in town and enjoying Washington Park or adventuring out of the city.
Whether you stick to the pavement or explore dirt roads, you’ll benefit from the all-terrain tires of the ACTIV trim. They’ll give you added grip on slippery surfaces. The ACTIV trim also has a suspension tuned for off-road use. This suspension will keep your ride smooth on bumpy terrain and improve stability on unstable ground. This trim will have roof rails, giving you a place to secure items like skis or kayaks for your excursions. Plus, it rolls on 17-inch machined wheels for a rugged stance.
On the inside, you’ll get Evotex and sueded microfiber seat surfaces for a refined but practical cabin. Evotex is a premium synthetic material that’s easy to clean and long-lasting—so it’s perfect for active drivers who might be getting back in their Equinox with muddy shoes or gear. You’ll also find attractive ACTIV stitching throughout the interior. It’s a fun, youthful and energetic trim that’s perfect for Albany residents who like to leave the city for the great outdoors from time to time.
The ACTIV trim also gets the Equinox’s Drive Mode Selector, a rotator knob that allows you to choose different modes that will adapt the vehicle’s dynamics to your terrain. Choose between modes like Normal, Sport, and Eco to have the behind-the-wheel experience you crave. On the convenience front, it enjoys a center console with a pass-through feature. So front-seat riders can easily send road trip essentials like snacks and tissues to rear seat passengers.
The RS Trim: For Those Who Love to Drive
If you want a compact SUV as sophisticated as Albany itself, consider the RS trim. The RS trim boasts performance-inspired style details and is great for drivers who dream of spending time on a track but are mostly stuck on the Interstate 787. Sitting on 19-inch machined wheels and featuring a unique lower fascia and black grille, it instantly has a sleeker appearance than the other models. You even have the option to order it on 20-inch machined wheels for an even more intimidating aesthetic. Adding to its mysterious allure is an available black two-tone roof and black roof rails and mirror caps.
On the inside, you’ll be welcomed by striking Torch Red and Santorini Blue stitching, as well as RS debossed front seat head restraints. You’ll maneuver your vehicle using the performance-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel. As with the ACTIV trim, it enjoys the drive mode selector, allowing you to tailor your driving experience to your environment or your mood.
