This 2015 Chevy Silverado is your choice for full-sized capability from the pickup truck segment. The full-sized 2015 Chevy Silverado comes in a range of cab and cargo bed combinations and is available in both two and four-wheel drive. Every 2015 Chevy Silverado, except the LTZ levels, comes with a standard 4.3-liter V6 engine, generating 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission, in your choice of four or rear-wheel drive. Outfitted as such, the two-wheel drive 2015 Chevy Silverado boasts an EPA-estimated 18 miles/24 highway/20 mpg combined. The four-wheel drive dips slightly to 17 city/22 highway/19 mpg combined.

With the right equipment , this year’s Chevy Silverado with standard V6 power is able to tow a range of 5,500-7,600 pounds. You’ll see a jump to 6,200 and upwards of 11,500 pounds if the Silverado is powered by the available 5.3-liter V8 engine, standard on the LTZ, backed by 355 horses and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.

Expect the rear-wheel drive Chevy Silverado with the V8 engine to afford you a fuel economy measured at 16 city/23 highway/19 mpg combined, while 4WD returns 16 city/22 highway/18 mpg combined. According to performance testing administered by Edmunds, the 2015 Chevy Silverado can make the zero to sixty mph dash in 6.8 seconds.

Need a power boost?

Take a gander at the High Country trims, available exclusively on the LTZ trim level, which feature the 6.2-liter V8 engine, supported with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you opt for the High Country, your 2015 Chevy Silverado will be equipped and ready to haul anywhere between 9,100-12,000 pounds. But, no matter if you prefer the two-wheel or four-wheel drive, the High Country Silverado with the V8 engine yields matching EPA estimates, which are 15 city/21 highway/17 mpg combined.

The 2015 Chevy Colorado: What an Ace!

Just ask the industry experts at Edmunds, who awarded the 2015 Chevy Colorado high marks.

But first, the brass tacks. A midsize pickup truck, the 2015 Chevy Colorado boasts full-sized chops. A bit bigger than the now discontinued Chevy Colorado pickup, which departed from showroom and dealer inventories back in 2012, the current Colorado comes with a complete makeover. Similar in size to its competitors like the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma, the 2015 Chevy Colorado leads the pack when it comes to fuel efficiency and interior encancements.

Although you can no longer purchase the Colorado as a regular cab, the new Colorado is available as an extended-cab, thanks to its six-foot, two-inch bed, or a crew cab, which is equipped with four doors and a five-foot, two-inch short bed or the available extended bed. This year, not only do you have a cab choice, there are also four trim levels to consider in the new Colorado. Choose from the Base and Work Truck, the LT, or the top of the line Z71.

If the Base Colorado, exclusively offered as an extended cab, is all you need, you can anticipate standard features like: automatic headlights, air-conditioning, four-way power driver seat, tilt-only steering wheel, rearview camera, power windows, daytime running lights, front bucket seats, six-speaker AM/FM stereo system and 4.2-inch screen with USB and audio jacks.

Moving up a level to the Work Truck, your options increase, and are arguably more task-driven by design. For example, the WT Convenience package, offers bells and whistles like keyless entry, cruise control, EZ-Lift tailgate, and an anti-theft system, while the Work Truck Appearance package spruces up the Colorado’s exterior with body-color mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper, all perched on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Keep cruising up the trim levels and you’ll find the  Colorado LT which takes the prime perks from the WT Convenience and Work Truck Appearance packages, in addition to an overhead console, along with an adjustable leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power-adjustable exterior mirrors with integrated convex spotter mirrors, cruise control, OnStar support, Chevy’s own MyLink audio, including satellite and Pandora radio, and an eight-inch touchscreen. Along with all of those enhancements, the LT also sports bigger 17-inch alloy wheels.

Waiting at the summit, the Colorado Z71 offers an abundance of advanced features and capabilities. Initially an off-roading package, the Z71 stays true to its legacy and affords adventure enhancements like a suspension specifically tuned for off-roading, and strengthened by supports like hill descent control, 17-inch alloy wheels, and interior materials made from a combination of cloth and leatherette materials.

But what’s the power like?

Well, the 2015 Chevy Colorado offers two engine options.

Starting with the standard equipment, the Colorado is outfitted with a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, able to get 200 horsepower and 191 lb.-ft. of torque. Paired with the six-speed manual transmission, the Colorado gets 19 city/26 highway/22 mpg combined. But the available six-speed automatic transmission yields 20 city/27 highway/22 mpg when matched with the two-wheel drive, and the four-wheel drive gets 19 city/25 highway/21 mpg combined. When equipped for maximum towing capacity, this year’s Chevy Colorado can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

If you find that you’re in need of extra power, you have the option of choosing  the 3.6-liter V6 engine, generating 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. So equipped, the Colorado features fuel efficiency rated at 18 city/26 highway/21 mpg combined when operated by two-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive is measured at 17 city/24 highway/20 mpg combined. For ultimate towing capacity, the 2015 Chevy Colorado with the V6 engine can tow a maximum of 7,000 pounds.

In addition to those abilities, the 2015 Chevy Colorado pickup sports some serious get up and go.  Edmunds testing, completed in a 4WD Colorado crew cab short bed, saw the truck complete the zero to sixty mph challenge in 7.5 seconds – great numbers for the pickup truck segment.

Fortunately, the truck’s brake testing, also administered by Edmunds, yielded excellent results, too. In fact, the Colorado came to a full stop from sixty mph in 129 feet, a result which measures a good five feet less than those returned by the Colorado’s competitors. But it was also the 2015 Chevy Colorado’s abundance of both active and passive safety features which earned it top safety ratings from both government crash tests and the IIHS.
