But First, What is a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle?

It’s important to note that Chevy CPO models aren’t just like any other used vehicle; they’re specially-chosen pre-owned models in the best condition possible. In order for a vehicle to be offered as a CPO Chevy, it must first pass an extensive 172-point inspection that thoroughly checks the vehicle inside and out, including its mechanical and electrical components. Once a vehicle has been certified, then it comes with a six-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and a 12-month/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, both of which are provided by the manufacturer. This gives you tremendous peace of mind on your purchase of a CPO model—we should also mention that a vehicle can’t have more than 75,000 miles on it to be offered as CPO, and it has to be from the last six model years, which means there are some specific vehicles to look for when shopping for a Chevy CPO vehicle.

Chevy CPO – The Trax

If you’re looking for the smallest Chevy CPO crossover model around, then the subcompact Trax is a great place to start. The Chevy Trax was first released for the 2015 model year, though that’s beyond the six-model-year timeline for CPO vehicles. There was a facelift for the Trax for 2017, which means the ones you’ll find offered as CPO will include this update for the first generation. Chevy is launching a second-generation Trax for 2024, which you may be able to find as a CPO model in the next year or so, but they’ll be fairly rare for a while. Looking at something like a 2021 Trax, you’ll find a 155-hp 1.4L I-4 engine, plus more than 18 cu.ft. of rear cargo area, making this a great small and sporty choice.

Chevy CPO – The Trailblazer

For something a bit larger, the Trailblazer is a terrific option that’s also a subcompact model, but it’s designed to give you more room inside and more engine options. A 2021 Trailblazer, for example, could have either a 1.2L I-3 or a 1.3L I-3 engine, though any model will come with more than 25 cu.ft. of rear cargo space. It’s worth mentioning that the original Chevy Trailblazer models date back to the early 2000s, but you won’t find these as CPO vehicles. After more than a decade away, Chevy brought the Trailblazer back for the 2021 model year, and these are the vehicles you’ll find as you shop for a CPO crossover.

Chevy CPO – The Equinox

One of the most popular crossovers on the road, the Chevy Equinox is a compact model that’s a great option if you want something bigger than the previous two without getting into midsize territory. First released for the 2005 model year, the Equinox has been going strong ever since; the oldest CPO Equinox vehicles you’ll find are part of the second generation that launched for 2010 and received a facelift and update with the 2016 model year. The third generation for the Equinox kicked off with the 2018 model year, so these are great ones to look for thanks to a 170-hp 1.5L Turbo engine and nearly 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space.

Chevy CPO – The Blazer

For a midsize SUV with a lot to offer, it’s hard to beat the Chevy Blazer—not to be confused with the Trailblazer, they’re two different models. The Blazer was first released all the way back in 1983, though that original version ran through the 2005 model year. After more than a decade break, Chevy brought the Blazer back for the 2019 model year, so these are incredibly popular CPO models, and you’ll find plenty of them in fantastic condition. Looking at something like the 2021 Blazer, you can find three different engines, from a 193-hp I-4 to a V6 with 308 hp, plus more than 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space for remarkable performance and functionality.

Chevy CPO – The Traverse

The Traverse is another option that’s been around for quite a while since it was first introduced for the 2009 model year. It’s been available uninterrupted since then, though most CPO Traverse vehicles you find will be from the second generation, which launched with the 2018 model year and received an update for 2022. If you look at a 2021 Chevy Traverse, as an example, you will find an impressive 310-hp 3.6L V6 engine, along with three rows of seating inside to give you plenty of room for passengers and everything you need to bring with you.

Chevy CPO – The Tahoe

While the Traverse is a fantastic option, the third row of seats can be a bit cramped for adults and are better suited for children. If you want a full-size SUV with spacious seating for passengers of any size, the Tahoe is a fantastic choice. The Chevy Tahoe goes back to 1992 when it was first introduced, and a fourth generation for the Tahoe launched with the 2015 model year, making them common options you’ll find when looking at CPO Tahoe models. A fifth generation for the Tahoe launched with the 2021 model year, including a redesign and numerous updates, so these are among the best options out there and well worth looking for.

Chevy CPO – The Suburban

If you’re looking for the largest option Chevy brings to the road, then you’ll want to find a CPO Suburban, which is a name that goes all the way back to the 1930s—though the modern version of it is far removed from those original models. This is actually the longest-running continuously available nameplate in the auto industry, with the current 12th generation launching with the 2021 model year. That means you’ll find 11th and 12th-generation Suburban models as you look at different CPO options—much like the Tahoe, it was redesigned for 2021 and is longer with more room inside than before.
