When you stop into DePaula Chevrolet for your next truck, you’ll see why the 2022 Chevy Colorado is the most versatile and adaptable midsize truck on the road today. It is equally at home on or off the road and has the perfect assortment of features that make it suitable for work, play, or a little of both.
When you live in New York State, you know that you need a vehicle that can stand up to the extremes of weather we have up here. In addition, you’ll find that it is helpful to have a truck at home on the road and the variety of terrain to be found on our state’s many trails. This is why the Chevy Colorado stands out from its competitors in the midsize truck market.
#1 4 Tasty Trim Levels
The only difference between trim levels for most trucks is a little more chrome and maybe some nicer seat fabrics. You’re paying more for the same truck with a few more creature comforts. This is not the case with the 2022 Chevy Colorado. Each trim is almost its own version of this incredibly capable truck. The base model WT is perfect if you plan to use your Colorado for your vocation. This WT stands for Work Truck, so you know what you are paying for is a midsize truck designed to maximize job-related capabilities. The LT has features like a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate. This makes it the ideal truck for you if you want one for work during the week and still have enough luxury features that your kids won’t complain when you’re driving carpool for Sunday soccer practice.
Chevy also offers two different models of the 2022 Colorado that are specifically built for off-roading. The Z71 offers both an off-road suspension package and automatic locking rear differentials standard, along with other gear you’ll need when hitting the trail. However, the ZR2 is the ultimate in off-road models with increased ground clearance and a Mutimatic DSSV damping system. But don’t count the Z71 out—this model excels at more conventional duties, like hauling cargo and towing trailers.
#2 3 Prodigious Powertrains
The Colorado also offers drivers a diverse choice of powertrains. This engine and transmission combination may be the most important feature for drivers. In the case of the 2022 Chevy Colorado, you get a choice of three different powertrains. The base engine is a 2.5-liter DOHC I-4 gas engine paired with a Hydra-Matic 6L50 6-speed automatic transmission, standard on the WT and LT models. This engine uses high-pressure direct fuel injection to produce 200 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 191 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. This is designed to give you exceptional fuel economy, a very impressive 22 miles per gallon combined on rear-wheel drive trucks. It also allows you to tow up to 3,500 pounds, while carrying 1,435 pounds of cargo in the payload bed.
The second powertrain is a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine combined with a Hydra-Matic 8L45 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard on the Z71 and ZR2 trims, while also available as an option on the WT and LT models. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine also uses high-pressure direct fuel injection to provide up to 308 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 275 lb-ft at 4000 rpm. Choosing this powertrain will give you exceptional acceleration and more capability, as the Chevy Colorado equipped with this powertrain can tow up to 7,000 pounds and carry up to 1,550 pounds of cargo.
The third powertrain is a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel I-4, which is only available as an option on the ZR2. Chevy has paired this engine with the same transmission as the 2.5-liter I-4 gas engine. Unlike the other two engines, it uses common rail direct fuel injection. It is capable of 181 horsepower at 3400 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm. This is a true workhorse, allowing you to tow up to 7,700 pounds—the most of the three powertrain options on the 2022 Colorado.
#3 Capable Cab Designs
Having a roomy cab is often something you sacrifice when you choose to drive a midsize pickup truck. This can be a rough problem if you are driving around New York. The Empire State is known for some of the most challenging traffic in America. It is no fun sitting in a traffic jam on the Thruway when sitting in a cramped truck cab. This is why Chevrolet gives you a choice of two roomy, two-row cab styles on the 2022 Colorado, an Extended Cab and a Crew Cab. Both will give you 45 inches of legroom and 41.4 inches of headroom for you and whoever you’ve got riding shotgun. The key difference between the two is that the pleasant 28.6 inches of legroom in the rear row on the Extended Cab of the Colorado expands to an incredibly spacious 35.8 inches of legroom in Crew Cab models. Either way, you shouldn’t have any complaints from your back seat passengers, even if you’ve run into some rush hour traffic on the way into Manhattan.
#4 A Brand New Trail Boss Package
Chevy has heard from off-road fanatics and have answered their call. For the 2022 Colorado, drivers who choose an LT or Z71 model have the option of getting a dealer-installed Trail Boss package. While not as comprehensive as the gear on the ZR2 trim, the Trail Boss package will still give you more off-road features than you will find on the standard LT and Z71 models. The package starts with a 1-inch suspension-leveling kit. This will provide you with additional ground clearance, improving off-road performance for your Colorado. In addition, you will get front and mid-chassis skid plates, helping to protect the vulnerable parts of your truck’s undercarriage. Helping with off-road traction is a set of 17-inch ZR2 black accessory wheels. These give your Colorado a more aggressive stance as well. Chevy black bowtie emblems and a set of red tow hooks complete the package. With the Trail Boss package, you will have more peace of mind when taking your Colorado Z71 or LT out on the rugged trails around New York State.

#5 A Standard Infotainment System That Helps You Stay Connected
Every 2022 Colorado comes equipped with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System. This combines a built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot with entertainment, connectivity, and key vehicle information features into a single user-friendly color touchscreen. The WT has a 7-inch touchscreen, while the other three trims on the Colorado increase this to 8-inches.
Each Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability so that you can access your favorite Smartphone apps with ease. There is also Bluetooth audio streaming for two devices, allowing you to make hands-free calls while driving, so you can focus on the road ahead. A 3-month complimentary platinum subscription to SiriusXM will allow you to listen to some of the best music, comedy, sports, and news programming available, wherever you may drive your Colorado in or out of New York State. This will also come in handy when you are stuck in traffic, keeping you and your passengers entertained while waiting for the road to move again.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado Has a New York State of Mind
If you are looking for a midsize truck that is designed with New York State in mind, then you should consider a 2022 Chevy Colorado. No matter which of the four trims, three engines, or two cabs you choose, you will get a truck that can handle whatever New York can dish out in traffic and weather. Even though it is named for the Centennial State located in the Rocky Mountains, you would swear that Chevy built the Colorado for riding through the Appalachians, Adirondacks, and Catskills here in the Empire State.
