There’s a Lot to Love About the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV
The Chevy Blazer has represented the pinnacle of SUV design for over 50 years, but a new all-electric powertrain looks to set the midsize crossover up for another half-century of driving dominance. The 2025 Chevy Blazer EV sees some notable improvements for 2025 as Chevy continues to perfect the all-electric midsize crossover. The debut 2024 model sure turned a lot of heads with its eye-catching style and peppy performance, but the 2025 version improves on the original in a few key areas.
Chevy has not only upped the Blazer range and torque but also provided the EV with a little extra range, which means more time spent on the road and less time searching for a charging station. With the ability to travel up to 334 miles on a single charge, the Blazer offers a level of convenience and efficiency that’s tough to beat in the midsize segment. The EV cuts an imposing figure with its sporty styling and is among the largest two-row models on offer for 2025. Still, the Blazer EV’s performance, tech, and optional equipment packages make the strongest case for getting behind the wheel. Let’s see what the new 2025 model has to offer and explore some of the features that are quickly making the Blazer EV the name to beat in the midsize segment.
#1 – New SS Trim Maximizes Performance
With between 220 and 340 hp to its name, the 2024 Blazer EV was no slouch when it came to performance. The crossover’s potent powertrain made for an exceedingly fun ride, with the 2024 version offering a zero-to-60-mph time of 6.0 seconds. However, the 2025 model takes the EV’s performance-focused reputation to the next level thanks to the newly available SS trim. Chevy has paired a dual-motor electric powertrain with standard all-wheel drive to give the range-topping SS all the muscle a driver could ask for. With the ability to churn out 595 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque, the SS can give the likes of the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y performance a run for their money with a zero-to-60-mph time that clocks in around 3.4 seconds.
In order to achieve that sort of speed, drivers will have to enable the Blazer’s Wide Open Watts (WOW) Mode, which adjusts the EV’s pedal map, propulsion cooling, motor capability, and eAWD system to unleash the full might of the dual electric motors. The SS has also been outfitted with Brembo brakes and a retuned chassis that makes for a more dynamic driving experience while keeping the Blazer’s considerable power in check, not to mention an exclusive front fascia and distinctive 22-inch wheels.
The SS might represent the most exciting addition to the Blazer lineup, but the EV’s LT and RS trims also see some significant upgrades for the new model year. Rear-wheel drive models see an impressive bump in power with 365 ponies versus the 340 provided by the outgoing model. The all-wheel drive version gains 12 hp for a total of 300 hp while also increasing its torque from 333 to 355 lb-ft.
The bowtie brand has also rolled out a new front-wheel drive version of the Blazer that makes the EV something of an anomaly in the modern market. Few vehicles boast FWD, RWD, and AWD versions of the same model, but that’s exactly what Chevy is offering with the 2025 Blazer EV. While the RWD might offer some benefits in terms of performance, the FWD model should provide better traction on slick roads.
#2 – A Variety of Additional Packages to Choose From
The Blazer EV’s long list of powertrains and trims allows drivers to create a custom crossover EV that fits their unique driving needs, but Chevy isn’t done just yet. The EV can also be equipped with a number of optional equipment packages that can easily emphasize the Blazer’s style, tech, and more. The Comfort and Convenience Package is a must-have for anyone who spends a lot of time behind the wheel, featuring a heated, eight-way power driver seat with two-way power lumbar wrapped in black Evotex simulated leather upholstery. A heated steering wheel and wireless phone charger put comfort and convenience at your fingertips, while an auto-dimming rearview mirror ups the EV’s safety profile. The package also comes with a Hitch Guidance feature with Hitch View and Chevy’s AutoSense power liftgate, which will automatically pop the trunk when it senses the driver approaching with the key fob in tow.
The Blazer was already high on curb appeal, but Chevy is doubling down for 2025 with the introduction of the new Midnight/Sport Edition package. Available for the LT trim with eAWD, the Midnight/Sport Edition package adds a host of intriguing features to the mix to give the Blazer EV an edgy, aggressive look. The exterior is graced with a set of 19-inch black-painted aluminium wheels and high-gloss black roof rails, plus black bowtie emblems and exterior badging that immediately distinguish the crossover from the rest of the pack. The improvements continue on the interior, where drivers will find black cloth upholstery and dark chrome trim adorning the Blazer’s air vents.
The Blazer EV also comes equipped with a wide selection of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), especially when you throw in the generous Driver Confidence Package. From Adaptive Cruise Control and Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking to a futuristic Heads-Up Display and a rear camera mirror that gives you a live feed of the road, the Driver Confidence Package turns the Blazer EV into a showcase for the latest in automotive safety and convenience tech. For those looking to let their vehicle do all the work, the SUV can also be optioned with GM’s Super Cruise technology, which offers drivers a level of convenience that few models can match.
Routinely cited as one of the industry’s best hands-free driving systems, Super Cruise allows drivers to enjoy true hands-free driving on up to 750,000 miles of road throughout the U.S. and Canada. While initially limited to major highways, Super Cruise is steadily expanding its reach to include less popular routes around North America. Unlike some hands-free driving systems that rely on sensors to navigate the vehicle in real-time, Super Cruise is built on pre-mapped routes that critics say provide an extra layer of safety and peace of mind. Adding the optional Super Cruise package also gives drivers access to Chevy’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, which takes the guesswork out of nestling into a tight spot.
#3 – A Cutting-Edge Interior
The Blazer might not have been the first SUV on the market, but it arguably perfected the formula by infusing the formerly utility-focused segment with some important amenities like air conditioning and automatic transmissions that dramatically upped the comfort and convenience factor. While the new, all-electric Blazer shares little in common with its gas-powered predecessor, it hasn’t lost the spirit of innovation that’s long made the Blazer such a popular choice for those seeking the ultimate fusion of practicality, performance, and style.
A quick look at the dashboard provides plenty of evidence, with the Blazer EV sporting a huge 17.7-inch infotainment display and an 11.0-inch Driver Information Center. The most impressive part? These features are standard across all 2025 trims, meaning drivers won’t have to upgrade to pricer models or invest in optional equipment packages to enjoy all the contemporary tech the Blazer EV has to offer.
The crossover’s infotainment system is built on GM’s newest infotainment software, which leverages Google built-in technology to make for a seamless digital experience. Need turn-by-turn directions to your destination? The full power of Google Maps is at your disposal. Those looking to make calls, send texts, or set important reminders simply need to utter a quick “Hey Google” to task the handy Google Assistant feature to do all that and more. Google built-in also gives drivers and passengers access to the Google Play store, which can even be paired with your smartphone to access contacts and view relevant notifications.
Advancements aside, the crossover is really noteworthy for what it doesn’t choose to digitize. In today’s screen-obsessed world, automakers have started to lose a sense of when and where to best deploy their displays. While an expansive infotainment screen might be helpful when it comes to viewing a backup camera, scrolling through connected apps, or referencing GPS navigation, it can be a poor substitute for the tactile response of a good, old-fashioned knob or dial.
In a bid to incorporate new technology while emphasizing the inherent advantages of a more traditional approach, Chevy has designed the Blazer EV’s dashboard with physical controls for the climate controls and audio system volume, although drivers seeking a more hands-free approach can also use the built-in Google Assistant to set the ideal temperature. It might sound like a small detail, but it can make all the difference in terms of convenience and safety by minimizing frustrating menu diving and allowing for quick adjustment of the temperature or stereo.
#4 – Generous Cargo Space
While technically classified as a two-row model, the innovative EV boasts as much interior space as some three-row models and measures just three inches smaller than its full-size cousin in the Chevy Suburban. This sort of real estate gives the Blazer EV a marked advantage over some of its closest competitors, providing both the driver and passengers with all the room they set to stretch out, relax, and enjoy the ride. When you factor in the SUV’s generous dimensions and 59.1 cu.ft. of available cargo, it’s easy to see why the Blazer EV is quickly making a name for itself in the increasingly competitive midsize crossover EV segment.
