Off-roading gives you an opportunity to explore new areas or take on adventures you otherwise wouldn’t be able to accomplish with a basic vehicle made for paved roads. That’s why the Silverado 1500 is so popular among truck shoppers. It’s designed to be extremely versatile, and the 2025 model year retains a strong sense of its off-road capabilities thanks to the multiple trims and packages available for off-road enthusiasts. If you’re looking to get a 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 for yourself, but you want an off-road themed model, make sure you choose the right one that not only accommodates your budget but also gives you the capabilities you’re looking for out of an off-road truck.

Before you get serious about shopping for an off-road 2025 Silverado 1500, we have some details on the various off-road options that you can get your hands on here at our dealership. As a full-size truck, the Silverado 1500 gives you several options to choose from. Your skill level as an off-roader and what sort of features you want will determine which of the options best suits your needs. This all starts with the Z71 Off-Road Package and scales up to the ZR2 Bison Edition.

Z71 Off-Road Package

If you want a basic off-road-capable pickup, then there is the Z71 Off-Road Package. This package can be added to just about every trim of the Silverado 1500, from the base WT to the top High Country. However, it has to be a four-wheel drive model, and the details are slightly different depending on the trim. The Z71 Off-Road Package upgrades various aspects of the truck, including adding a two-speed Autotrac transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, a heavy-duty air filter, and skid plates. The Z71 Off-Road Package also comes with off-road-tuned suspension for improved off-road traversal, including Rancho twin-tube shock absorbers.

Custom Trail Boss

The 2025 Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss features a distinct visual appeal and comes standard with the Z71 Off-Road Package featuring a two-inch factory lift kit for additional ground clearance. You have Z71 badging on the side of the truck in front of the A-pillar, a Z71 badge on the front of the blacked-out grille, and a Trail Boss decal on the side of the cargo box. The trim also features a sport hood to compliment its bold stance. The Custom Trail Boss features 18-inch black painted aluminum wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires.

When it comes to performance, all of the off-road trims come standard with four-wheel drive. This particular trim comes standard with the TurboMax engine, but you can also have the Custom Trail Boss outfitted with the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel or the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8. You get remote start capabilities, cargo bed LED lighting, and a tailgate with EZ Lift assist and power lock and release. Plus, the Custom Trail Boss comes with the Trailering Package featuring a trailer hitch, trailering hitch platform, a two-inch receiver hitch, and four-pin and seven-pin connectors with hitch guidance. Inside, the Custom Trail Boss features a seven-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker audio system.

LT Trail Boss

The LT Trail Boss also comes standard with the Z71 Off-Road Package and two-inch factory lift kit, giving you that extra ground clearance. It’s decked out with a sport hood and the Z71 and Trail Boss badging on the sides of the vehicle. Like the Custom Trail Boss, the LT Trail Boss also features a blacked-out grille with a black Chevy bowtie emblem in the center and a Z71 badge in the bottom right-hand corner of the grille. The LT Trail Boss comes with 18-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires or 20-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels with matching all-terrain tires.

The LT Trail Boss comes with heated driver and front passenger seats and features a roll-formed high-strength steel Durabed cargo box. It comes standard with the TurboMax engine, but you can get it with the 3.0-liter Duramax, the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8, or the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. Additionally, the LT Trail Boss features skid plates and dual red tow hooks in the front of the vehicle. Plus, like the Custom Trail Boss, you get the Trailering Package as a standard inclusion. However, unlike the Custom Trail Boss, the LT Trail Boss comes with a 13.4-inch touchscreen, and you have the added Convenience Package, which comes with additional USB charge ports, remote start, keyless open and start, a heated leather steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 10-way power front driver seat.

ZR2

As one of the most formidable off-road models in the truck segment, the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 is the penultimate off-road version of Chevy’s popular full-size pickup. It offers some amazing features inside and out if you’re willing to pay the entry price for it. The ZR2 features perforated leather seats and rides on a specially-tuned ZR2 suspension featuring high-performance Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers. This gives you dynamic shock absorption for all kinds of trail runs, dirt pathways, and rock-crawling adventures.

The ZR2 is built to be rugged, featuring red front tow hooks and full skid plates on the front underbody, the oil pan, the differential case, and the transfer case. You have 18-inch wheels tucked into Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires, and it comes standard with the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel for improved torque output with the 10-speed automatic transmission featuring electronic precision shift control with powertrain grade braking and cruise grade braking. Alternatively, you can have the ZR2 outfitted with the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 if you’d like, giving you a choice between diesel-powered torque and V8-worthy horsepower. Additionally, the ZR2 comes with unique badging, a blacked-out grille with a matching bowtie emblem, and a sport hood to top off its muscular visage.

ZR2 Bison Edition

If the ZR2 just wasn’t enough for you, the ZR2 Bison Edition is the ultimate off-road iteration of the 2025 Silverado 1500. It takes everything that the ZR2 has and then adds additional features on top of that. This includes American Expedition Vehicles badging to let everyone know that your ZR2 Bison Edition comes with AEV equipment. You have more robust hot-stamped boron steel skid plates for the fuel tank, transfer case, and rear differential.

The ZR2 Bison Edition comes with 18-inch gloss black AEV wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires. You also have AEV stamped-steel front and rear bumpers that feature heavy-duty recovery points. There is rocker protection on the sides of the vehicle, and it comes standard with the Multi-Flex Tailgate. You also have all-weather floor liners in the first and second rows with AEV logos featured throughout the cabin. If you want the best that the ZR2 has to offer, but with the added benefits of the AEV upgrades, the ZR2 Bison Edition provides it.
