Which Trim in the 2024 Chevy Colorado Lineup is for You?
As MotorTrend’s “2024 Truck of the Year,” the Chevy Colorado has been exciting our customers, all of whom are eager to take it for a test drive and see what it has to offer them. Almost universally, they then want to purchase a truck for themselves. The Colorado is perfect for conquering the roads in and around Albany, which is why we have the Chevy Colorado for sale here at DePaula Chevrolet. This midsize truck comes in a variety of trims; therefore, we wanted to put together a guide for you so that when you visit us, you already have an idea of which trim might best fit your needs.
There is no one perfect trim, nor is there one trim that is the best for everyone. Different drivers have different purposes and different economic situations. We want to provide you with the details so you can make an informed decision and select the trim that’s ideal for your driving lifestyle. Then, you’ll be ready to visit us and get behind the wheel of your very own. Let’s take a closer look at what each trim has to offer.
The WT (Work Truck)
This is the entry-level trim for the Colorado, but don’t let that fool you: this is still an impressive truck capable of putting up impressive performance numbers. The WT is geared towards laborers as it doesn’t come with the extra features and comfort upgrades of other trims, but it can still tow a hefty payload thanks to its standard 2.7L Turbo engine that cranks out 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque (you can upgrade to a higher engine, which we shall talk about shortly, that allows you to tow the maximum 7,700 lbs).
And just because this is a trim geared towards work doesn’t mean you don’t have some outstanding tech. The 11.3-inch diagonal touchscreen comes with Google built-in, so you’ll have plenty of apps at your disposal, which is great for both navigation and entertainment; just because you’re driving for work doesn’t mean you can’t use modern tech to keep you entertained, connected, and safe. This is a cost-effective truck, too, so if price is on your mind, the WT might be your best bet: you still have power and capability but at a lower cost.
The LT (Luxury Touring)
If you like what the WT is offering but you’re looking for a little bit more flash, then the LT trim is the one you want to check out. It’s still very cost efficient, but offers some extra flair. For those who drive for work and pleasure, this is a truck that’ll fit right in with your busy life.
It comes with the same standard engine as the WT, but it has plenty of upgrades inside. You’ll get rear air vents to keep the climate more comfortable so that you and your passengers never have to dread the day’s weather; carpeted floor mats to add a sense of unity to the interior’s design; an extra USB port in the rear so your passengers can keep their devices charged, which is very important if your passengers are kids in need of consistent entertainment. The price of the LT is still relatively low compared to competitors, so it’s a smart economic choice in addition to everything else.
Trail Boss
This trim’s title already tells the story. If you’re someone who likes to drive into the Catskills or you’re someone who regularly has to manage uneven terrain (remote work sites, for instance), then the Trail Boss is going to be your faithful companion. This trim is crafted with the off-road in mind so that you can succeed even when the road becomes unpredictable. The most obvious difference is the engine, which is a standard 2.7L TurboMax that produces 310 hp and 430 lb-ft torque, allowing the Trail Boss to barrel over any terrain more easily.
The Trail Boss also pulls up to the curb with standard four-wheel drive, which is great when you want better command and traction in slippery conditions, be it off the road or simply during an icy New York winter. Plus, you’ll have a two-inch factory-installed lift, allowing you to traverse rocky or otherwise unpleasant ground with less concern for your truck’s underbody. Your tech receives an upgrade with an eye toward the off-road, too. You’ll have a Driver Mode Selector that allows you to change the Trail Boss’ driving style depending on the day’s mission. You are also granted Hill Descent Control, which can automatically decelerate the Trail Boss if it senses you’re descending too quickly; it’s an excellent safety feature and great if you’re someone who is just starting to branch out into the off-roading lifestyle. This more rugged trim is still relatively cost-efficient, though, providing you with the option of having fun on the trails without breaking the bank.
Z71
The Z71 is perfect for drivers looking to merge luxury features with off-road enhancements. For those of you who want to impress passengers even when you’re on the trail, this trim is one you need to consider closely. It adopts many of the LT trim’s benefits with the Trail Boss’ features. For instance, it has the Trail Boss’s more powerful TurboMax engine along with its Hill Descent Control, and it features the LT’s extra gloss and style that makes onlookers take a second glance.
But it has plenty of its own benefits, too. This trim has LED projector headlights and fog lamps, which cause less glare. You have standard Jet Black or Adrenaline Red upholstery so that your passengers are impressed by your bold style. You’ll have 18-inch wheels, just like on the Trail Boss, but these are Android Dark. There are small but meaningful touches, too, such as the addition of 120-volt power outlets both inside the truck and in the bed so you can power tools for work or a family project.
ZR2
The top trim is the one you purchase when you want your Chevy Colorado to impress everyone at work, as well as those passing by on the road. It is loaded with extra features that will make you almost unstoppable no matter the climate or terrain. This trim will have you feeling empowered in a way we’d bet you’ve never before felt when behind the wheel of a truck.
The standard ZR2 Off-Road Package is particularly exciting as it comes with a 3-inch factory-installed lift and high-performance suspension. Whether you’re climbing hills or traversing through snow, you’ll have full faith in your ZR2’s ability to keep steady and protected. Instead of worrying about every bump in the road, you’ll be able to make off-roading memories with friends and family without stressing about your ride. The ZR2 has five selectable drive modes, too, making this truck more adaptable to the moment than ever.
Your passengers are also going to feel a lot more comfortable while you’re having adventures thanks to your 8-way power-adjustable heated front seats. This way, everyone can be in the position they want, and even a cold winter morning won’t be bleak thanks to the warmth the seats can provide. The Multimatic DSSV dampers will make certain that just because the road is bumpy, your passengers won’t have to travel in discomfort. They’ll be highly impressed by the stability your truck provides.
