The 2022 Chevy Equinox makes a splash for the new model year, featuring lots of all-new upgrades and options, including a brand new trim. The compact crossover SUV has been buffed with completely refreshed front and rear fascia, giving it a sportier and more aerodynamic look. All-new LED headlamp and daytime driving light designs help accentuate the classy chrome grille that stands out as the highlight of the Equinox. Four new color options have also been added, including Blue Glow Metallic, Seaglass Blue Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat.
In addition to the refreshed design to make the Equinox more visually appealing to potential shoppers, the compact SUV has also received a brand new trim. In addition to the previous trims, which included the LS, LT, and Premier, shoppers have access to the all-new RS trim. The RS trim offers a brand new black interior with accented red stitching and is topped off with a custom shift knob. All of this is accepted with some sporty 19-inch Dark Android wheels helping give the Equinox a truly unique look.

The 2022 Chevy Equinox is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This enables the vehicle to get off the line quickly. The turbocharged engine also affords for fluid maneuvering around corners while offering great travel speeds on the highway. This is all thanks to the engine generating up to 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. With a 6-speed automatic transmission, you have easy access to smooth acceleration and full control over the Equinox when it comes to managing speed and being able to quickly get to your destination on time.
The Equinox trim line comes standard with a front-wheel drive configuration, but for those of you who would prefer more on-the-road stability and better distribution of torque efficiency, an all-wheel drive configuration is available. In fact, every trim can be configured in an all-wheel drive format, so whether you're working on a tight budget or feel like going all out on the highest luxury trim available, you can configure the Equinox with either option.
Every trim also comes equipped with the Automatic Start/Stop technology that disables the engine when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. This reduces fuel consumption and increases the overall fuel economy. If you would prefer that this system not be active, you can actually use the driver-side deactivation switch to turn off the Automatic Start/Stop feature, giving you more control over the engine cycle.
Whether you enable or disable the Automatic Start/Stop feature, the 2022 Equinox manages highly proficient fuel economy. The SUV tops out at 26 MPG in the city and up to 31 MPG on the highway for the front-wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive still manages impressive numbers, with 25 MPG in the city and up to 30 MPG on the highway. So you still get great mileage whether you opt for the front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration.
Part of the 2022 refresh for the Chevy Equinox includes updates both inside and out. For the exterior, this includes an all-new front and rear fascia that adds brand new LED headlamps and LED daytime driving light designs to the Equinox. Not only does the compact SUV now have a far more stylish look, but it's also more technologically adept.
All new driving assists have also been added to the suite of available technology for Chevy's crossover, which includes front and rear parking assist, and automatic parking assistance. These aids are available alongside other optional equipment, such as HD surround vision, a first aid kit, and a highway safety kit. Other standard safety technologies are still present across every trim, which ranges from airbag deployment to a rear vision camera to lane keep assist and blind zone alerts. All of the necessary driving aids and assists come standard across the entire trim line with the Chevy Safety Assist suite.
Returning features, such as StabiliTrak, are always welcome, giving drivers an ease of mind no matter what road conditions or weather they encounter. With StabiliTrak, there's constant monitoring and measurement of each wheel's position to maximize traction, even during snow or rain. And with the added standard Teen Driver mode, parents with teenage drivers will be able to very easily keep track of their teen's safety practices and driving habits, complete with an electronic report card.
On the infotainment front, the 2022 Equinox is more than ready to handle the latest expectations from drivers and passengers alike. This includes both a 4.2-inch diagonal multi-color driver information screen, as well as an available Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen. Bluetooth wireless connectivity also comes standard, so you can easily pair your favorite smart devices to the Equinox and play your favorite media. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto takes streaming and multimedia access to the next level.
An available Infotainment II Package can also upgrade the cabin experience within the Equinox for those who want it. The package comes packed with additional navigation apps, HD radio support, as well as a Bose premium 7-speaker surround-sound system for the ultimate in audio engagement. You can also relax and enjoy the ride, thanks to the standard inclusion of the Memory Package, which includes driver presets for the seat positioning and outside mirrors.
Speaking of seating, the Equinox comes with 8-way power driver seat functionality with lumbar control, along with available 8-way power front passenger seating. Power windows with express up/down functionality come standard on every trim, along with the OnStar Chevrolet Connected Services. So no matter where you go or how you plan to get there, you will have navigational support along the way. With added standard features such as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, cabin climate control, and USB ports, you always have access to devices, charging, and the latest in technology thanks to the available features in the 2022 Chevy Equinox.
The Chevy Equinox seats up to 5 people and comes with available ventilated driver and front passenger seats for the Premier trim. The Premier also comes standard with perforated leather upholstery and French stitching for an added sense of luxury. Alternatively, the RS trim offers available jet black leather-appointed seating or premium cloth trimming with a visually-fetching red stitching highlighted throughout the interior cabin.
Both the base LS and LT trims have also been given an interior refresh, sporting a new look and a more hip feel. The trimming helps diversify what you get from each model of the 2022 Chevy Equinox, so each model feels different. While the LS and LT have more solid color schemes within the interior, you get something unique with the RS trim's performance-inspired interior and a nice two-tone color scheme with the Premier. There's something for every type of driver made available.
Additionally, drivers and passengers have plenty of room to move about as well, with a passenger volume of 103.5 cubic feet of space. Behind the front row, there is a cargo volume of up to 63.9 cubic feet and up to 29.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row. This gives passengers lots of room to stretch their legs, while also providing lots of space to store goods. With the added option of a collapsible cargo area organizer, you also have very convenient access for storing items and organizing cargo space as you see fit.
Available cargo liners, the ability to fold the rear seats flat, and available heated rear outboard seats mean that there are a lot of customization options to help personalize the way the Equinox feels. If you want it to be more of a passenger vehicle, you can. If you would prefer it for more storage and cargo purposes, you can also configure it that way as well.
