At Chevy, That’s Infotainment!

If you’re someone like me who loves music, then you probably also find it often frustrating driving around in this beautiful part of upstate New York. While all those foothills, mountains, and forests give us the scenery we love so much about this part of the world, they also wreak havoc on radio reception. I can still remember as a young child going for long rides with my folks. It seemed like whenever my favorite song would come on the radio that we’d hit a dead spot, or the channel we were listening to would become a hailstorm of static. The worst was when the radio would suddenly fade from the chorus of a favorite tune to some hopped up guy screaming about selling me a tractor. The word frustration does not even begin to describe this feeling. The good news is that a trip to a Chevy dealership in Albany, NY, like our own, can help fix that very problem.
Today’s Chevrolets come equipped with an infotainment system that will make sure you never lose your favorite song for the forest, the trees, or the foothills of the Capital District. That is because the Chevy cars, trucks, and SUVs on sale at DePaula Chevy will all feature some version of the Chevrolet Infotainment system, one of the most fully loaded and capable systems on the market today. Stop by our dealership today, so we can show you all the amazing things you can do with this infotainment system.
Staying Tuned In
I still remember those days of having to use a roll bar to flip through channels on a car radio. This device would slide back and forth along the AM or FM band, and you’d have to move slowly, or you might pass right over your favorite station. If you got tired of one station, you’d have to go sliding back and forth again to find another one. Needless to say, this was not always the safest thing to do when you were stuck in traffic on the Thruway. Also, notice that I said radio. That’s right, most didn’t have a stereo receiver, so all the sound came through tinny speakers in mono. If you were lucky, you’d be like my best friend’s mom who paid extra for a tape deck. That’s 8-trak for those of you with a good memory.
Thankfully, the days of sliding along an FM band are long gone. With the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, you get a multi-speaker AM/FM stereo with plenty of pre-sets, which you can easily store in Favorites in the system. All of it can be accessed on a gorgeous, easy-to-use color touchscreen. The days of reaching down to change stations or volume are over. You can now adjust your stereo with the touch of a button in an ergonomically designed screen that is brilliantly placed in the upper center of your dashboard.
In addition, you also get a free trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio with most new Chevy vehicles. SiriusXM offers 200 channels of music, sports, talk radio, news and comedy right into your Chevy car, truck or SUV live via satellite and without any annoying commercial interruptions. Some models even features SiriusXM with 360L, providing the best in traffic and weather at your fingertips to improve your trip. With a satellite radio, the days of losing your channel in the hills and valleys are long gone.
You also don’t need an 8-track tape deck because the Chevy Infotainment 3 system provides for easy connection of your smartphone. This allows you to stream music from your smartphone apps, so you can easily create the greatest playlist of all time, whether you’re going on a road trip, taking your Chevy to do some sightseeing around town, or just driving to and from work every day.
If you are a real audiophile like me, you’ll consider getting a Bose premium audio system on your next Chevy. Some of them, like the Bose Performance Series on the 2021 Corvette Stingray, the 2021 Suburban, and the 2021 Tahoe, feature a Richbass woofer, AudioPilot, Centerpoint, and SurroundStage technologies to enhance the overall effect, turning your Chevy into a professional concert hall.
The Bose premium audio system features additional speakers, ranging from the seven high-performance speakers on the Bolt, Colorado, Equinox, Silverado, and all-new Trailblazer, to the incredible 14-speaker system on the Corvette Stingray. With just room for two people in the Corvette, that means you and your lucky passenger will each enjoy seven speakers of your own!
Staying Connected
Every Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system features Bluetooth connectivity. This allows you and your passengers to easily connect your smartphones to the system. Simply follow the instructions and you will be easily be making hands-free calls in no time from your Chevy, so you won’t have to fumble around looking for phone numbers and have to listen to a less-than-adequate speaker on your smartphone. The Bluetooth will allow you to use your Chevy’s exceptional sound system for your calls.
The system’s connectivity is enhanced by the 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot in your Chevy. This means that your car will become a mobile Internet café, allowing you and your passengers to stay connected. Does one of your passengers need Internet access to complete some work? No problem. Is one of your passengers surfing the Internet during your drive? She’ll easily stay connected.
The same holds true if you have an Apple or Android smartphone. The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Simply choose the operating system from your phone and connect. If you have an Apple iPhone, you’ll be able to access almost all of the major features on your Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, including iTunes, maps, messages, music, and even Siri. Similarly, if you have an Android compatible smartphone, you can easily connect to the system using Android Auto, allowing you to safely and easily access your smartphone’s apps on the touchscreen, including Google Maps.
Staying Informed
The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system comes with a whole host of in-vehicle apps to keep you informed and to enhance your driving experience. Available apps include music streaming services like Pandora and Spotify, The Weather Channel, Fox Sports, and USA Today. The myChevrolet app allows you to schedule services and stay informed about your vehicle. Also, the OnStar system provides excellent service in the event of an emergency.
You can even get Alexa on board. Why leave Alexa at home when you can get your favorite Amazon assistant to accompany you on your drive. Alexa can open and close your garage door, set your home’s thermostat, and even turn your house lights on and off. This is especially helpful if you forget to do some things before you leave for work.
One of our favorite apps on the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system is Marketplace. This app will allow you to link with some of your favorite merchants so you can activate the pump and pay for gas, order a pizza, get a restaurant reservation, and reserve a parking space, all from the comfort of your Chevy’s driver seat. Chevrolet has partnered with some of the most popular food, fuel, and service vendors to provide the Marketplace service to you for maximum convenience.
Some Chevy cars, trucks, and SUVs will even help get you where you are going if they are equipped with optional Connected Navigation on their Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. Simply enter your destination, and the Connected Navigation will easily help you cruise through traffic. That is because the system receives real-time alerts on emergencies, accidents, road closures, and traffic so that you can avoid all the potential snarls along your route. The Connected Navigation will quickly pay for itself in the time you’ll save instead of sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Chevrolet has provided a standard infotainment system that has quickly set the industry standard. The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System seamlessly blends its entertainment, connectivity, and information functions into a system that is so easy to use and fun to handle that you are sure to spend hours just learning all the amazing things you can do with it. But don’t spend too much time since the road awaits and your next Chevy can’t wait to take you there.
